After getting Master Architect I decided I wanted to make some max BER harvesters - it would help me get a feel for the profession as a master and for the business around me. I mined and bought the best recources I could, and used them in the OMU and final combine. That being said, it only took me 9 experimentation points to get the OMU to BER 6 and 8 for the final combine to reach BER 13. All the recources I used in these objects came out to UT + UT + Sr + Hr > 3700...My question is, for a regular 10 point architect, can you use inferior recources that come to about 3500 but use the rest of your experimentation points to get the BER 13?
It should be noted that I didn't use any food on the OMU's but did use a pyollian and three bespin ports for the final combine.

I'm sure if you used slightly worse resources you could still hit BER 13 with 10 points used. I wouldn't skimp out on the OMU though.
I don't know what stat resources to use to try this out because all I use is good materials.

The max BER you'll get is based on the experimentation % of the mining part + the experimentation % of the final combine. If you get those numbers to add up to more than 176 (not totally sure but its in 175-180) then I believe thats the break point to get maximum BER on extraction. So if you experiment up the mining component as high as you can like 97% level then you can hit max BER with a lot lower % on your final combine, like 80-90 would be fine.
Given this, its a good idea to save your very best materials to use only in the mining component because those use fewer resources. Then you will get more margin to use lower quality materials for the final combine. e.g. HR + SR + UT + UT > 3800 will give you 95% and then you can use HR+ SR + UT + UT > 3400 materials in the final combine should get you max BER
(Note, These are rough numbers, I'm not totally sure on the exact numbers.)

I find Heavy Minerals to be more forgiving of high 80% - low 90% if they're handmade.

I would never skimp on resource quality. Even if you max out after 9 points exp. you are getting the best those resources will make. Slightly less UT+HR+SR resources will leave you with a BER12 no matter how many exp points you have. Trust me , I'm a 12 point Master Architect.
On a better note, yesterday I made a Heavy Mineral harveter with BER=13, Hopper Size=134190 can anybody top that?

I hit BER13 using 96% OMUs and a 84% final combine.
My biggest Hopper size is around 124k - I think. Might be higher. I just dump my remaining points in the hopper size and hope I don't get a failure - since it's gonna bring down the BER. I'm an 11pts Arch.
