Yeah, Fermionic Siliclastic Ore.
It's fairly easy to find a 90%+ spot of it and it stays in-shift for a very long time.
Only one planet at a time, tho.

One downside to the JTL ore is that it is just as often found on a high end planet like Endor or Dath so that can be a pain for many crafters.

Especially after the CU goes live and survivability of a level 1 character drops drastically.

There isn't any one 'best' planet or location for ore. Doesn't matter what server you are on, spawns work the same.
Ore fields are usually easily found on most planets in the 20-40% range and normal low grade ore tops out around 50-60% usually.
For mining in general, I personally like Talus since its relatively flat, usually fairly unpopulated and the wildlife isn't too fierce.
If you're looking for a high % spot then you probably want to go with the JTL ore. I think fermionic is one. THose can get up to 90% levels and the spawns tend to last a while like 2-3 weeks, but they only spawn on one planet at a time I think.

I've static-ed harvesters and I've noticed that some places seem better for ore than others.

I must say that Fermionic Siliclastic Ore is the best thing to happen to Architects. I know the ore was brought in for the Shipwrights, but it benefits the Architect also. As we all know, ore is the hardest resource to come by and also the resource that we use the most in large quantities.
You can always find a spawn of +90% of Fermionic Siliclastic Ore. This stuff is great! Since I always have harvestors planted on this stuff, I know when the spawn starts and ends. The trick is to watch for when this happens, because you have to drop your harvestors on the new spawn as quickly as possible. As stated already, it only spawns on one planet at a time. When the spawn shifts, pick up your harvies and start moving. Because it spawns on only one planet the good spots go quickly. I usually ask my guild to help me out. As I do not have any combat skills whatsoever, I just ask some friends to come out and clear the area of bad guys for me. I then start dropping harvies.
I love crafting, but I hate surveying (thank goodness for surveying while mounted) and mining. But it is a necesity and eventually worth while. I hope that later upgrades to the game will be more crafter friendly, like using macros to retrieve and change resources.
Anyways, I hope my little post was useful.

I have 7 harvesters on that stuff right now. I love it. The Fermionic Siliclastic Ore of course. The only problem is when it is one dangerous planets. I hate dying hehe. Good luck everyone getting your harvesters planted on some.

Make combat friends or crafting friends with combat alts. Or use those level 10 pets and droids to be your cannon fodder. I've done that countless times.

Personally I prefer Lok, It has tons of LARGE flat areas. Albeit there is some feirce wildlife. However what I have done to survive the "nasties" is to build my npc faction points up to +5000 in Canyon Corsair, Bloodrazors, and Nym. When I get attacked I can usually find a spawn of one of these three fairly quickly and they defend me. I have done the like on other planets too such as+5000 Tusken rating on Tatooine and RSF rating on Naboo (still working on Mauler rating)

Lok is my personal favorite as well.
The cities are nice and spread out on gorath, so I can easily hop around to a nice emptpy flat spot near a city with no Kimos.

I love Lok because of the open land but unfortunately the Fermionic Sicilistac (whoever you spell it) Ore hasn't been there in Naritus when I can remember. And I am CH 2/2/2/2 so I have pretty high HAM pets I have to try them as decoys hehe. I have combat friends but they cannot always come help me too and I understand that because they do have lives as well lol. I am finally getting some Ore though which makes me all happy inside.
