Thread: Work/labor camps for mining operations.
I think there should be real automated harvesting. What i mean by that is this.
How about in the archatec line, there is say a labor camp building schematic. A labor camp is a building that has employees that tend to the mining operations. Often times resources shift unexpectently, and while im busy at a friends house, precious mining time is being wasted as my harvester sits there doing nothing. Also, you get called to work or something, and your harvester runs out of power cause you didnt get time to put more in. Why not have labor camps, with different sizes, that basicly automaticly shift power from your power generators, directly to your mining harvesters. They would also automaticly change toa resource when that resource suddenly dissapeared. Like link steel, going from 35% to 0% over night, it would switch to say aluminum, or any choice you pick. This would atleast mine something instead of nothing. and labor camps would need to be balanced. I would recommend 3 different kinds. Small, Medium, and Large. Small would hold 2 workers, and thuscould automaticly transfer power / switch which mineral is being mined Ect for 2 harvesters. So if you had 1 personal chem harvester and one wind generator. the small labor camp would allow wind energyto be automaticly transfered to personal chem harvester, and the chemical harvester to switch to another resource if the currently mined one shifted. The labor campswould cost maintance, as well as a steady supply of food and water to keep them alive. I think they should follow what harvesters are done with, credit maintance wise. They should also grow in lot requirements. Like a small would cost 1 lot, a medium 2, and a large 3 or something similar. Would it also be a worthwhile investment if it automaticly emptied the harvester and delivered it right to yourhouse? This "labor force camp" idea COULD fill the empty hole we have in the structure experimention line, since that line is very unfavorable, a work camp could go there, thus making it worthwhile to spend skill ponts in other than going for master archatec. Of course the line would need renaming. Just a suggstion.
The laborforce wouldnt. have to be represented with npcs on screen. Just make a building that looks like a worker lodge.
Think about it. food and water supply go into a building that automaticly sends energy to harvesters + harvesters automaticly selected a new resource when one shifts ? Would that be something worth spending money/resources inechange for a convience?I would invest in something like that. However this labor camp would have an effected radius, like small camp havinga limitedarea, and large labor camphaving a much larger amount of area. This could be a good effective balance thing to have made by archatec.
Anybody could use them, you just have to BUY them from an archatec..
Anyone else have any suggestions, input, ideas, complaints? Please post them!!! Thanx
But, in the touchy feely society of today, most people would decry it as wrong. Snort.
Sigh, so much for the darker games.
It des hit home as far as the emporer's hatred for non-human races, but I think the DE "miner droid" will do the job just as well and help fix the poor guys profession. It's been posted in one of the stickies, but I forget which. You might read up on that as it is a really good idea imho.
Also, I doubt they will make something that let's your harvesters start back up without your explicit consent while online. The more you're online, the more likely you are to stay a paying customer...that sort of thing...
And as far as "labor camps" are concerned, I seriously doubt something like that would ever be implemented (Even though there are already slaves AKA NPC pets lol)
Once you reach Survey IV you should have a special droid that does all that stuff for you...
A little reward to end the grind. Kind of a mixure between a traking & maintenace droid, maybe with certain charges, you load them up with credits, your deed& power, tell them what to look for and send 'em off.
