Thread: Buildings need more definition/storage
Hi. I'm not an architect in game (never liked crafting too much) but I'm training to be one in real life and I have an eye for aesthetics. Because of this I actually furnish structures instead of just turn them into warehouses. Well since I"m the leader of my PA I dropped the hall and subsequently can't place a house outside of naboo. Well like I said I furnish things, and I've filled my hall with a good amount of furniture and made it look really nice and funcitonal...but it isn't finished. There are still rooms that are barren (upstairs, let alone the balcony if they ever fix that) but I don't have any more storage. What the hell?
Now this wouldn't be too big of a problem to me if PA halls had an unachievable amount of storage and I just have lofty goals or have too many things on top of each other but they don't. A large house can hold just as much as a hall that has an incredible amount more square footage. Same goes for the correlation between medium/small houses and large homes. The cost of these larger structures is huge as far as lots are concerned which makes them into a sort of status symbol. After all there are not too many crafters that would be willing to own a large house because of the number of harvestors that will cost them, but there is no benefit to having these status symbols, with the exception of being a "real" guild.
The max number of items being storable needs to be increased, alot for guild halls, and a good amount for large homes. And these are just the two obviously different structures. What is the difference between a small and a medium house? The number of rooms and the size of it's facade...yay. There really needs to be a bit of distinction between the different buildings in my opinion.
I posted this here because I figured I should get concerns or ideas from people that experience this first hand, both the fact that you guys own homes while still dealing with the rigors of crafting, are affected most by the item storage since that does somewhat dictate the amount of furniture product you move, even though those aren't the best money makers for you. Plus if alot of you guys are behind this, assuming this hasn't been mentioned before (like I said I'm no architect so I don't come here often) maybe your correspondent could voice about this, its only a hardcoded number thats easily changed after all. Thanks.
hey there, I doubt you'd find a single player to disagree with anything you've said. We all agree that the numbers are way off.
Unfortunately the reason for the caps as they stand are issues with the database SOE uses. They simply don't have space to keep everything. Thats the reason the numbers were lowered to their current levels. So, until they fix this issue I don't expect we'll see this get fixed.
Ironically, one of the things they just changed was harvester extraction rates going up which will create even more items out there rather than fewer. I don't get their thinking sometimes.
