Ok after a few weeks of endless grinding I have reached the point of needing a factory. I have an order for 5 heavies and are going to make a few for myself and my suppliers.

I need a factory...but i need help

what are the costs, power and credits?

what should i watch for...what are the bugs

what can i make and not make?

any tricks?

how long does it take?

thanks

I can't remember costs, just put alot in to keep it running as it will become youre most valuable tool. =)

There are only two real big pains with making things in a structure factory:

1. The factory won't pull firectly from a crate like other factories will. This is a gigantic pain when making walls as you can see from other posts on this board.

2. Some items can't be made in crates (Ore mining units, all plants, all deeds) This is a problem and I wish it would be resolved. I'd love to make personal harvesters in crates and I use so many Ore mining units that not being able to have them in crates creates a huge storage problem for me and I just end up leaving them in the output hopper until I need them.

Another major problem with the structure factory is that it's the hardest structure to place in the game. I tried to place mine in a spot where a PA Hall was but it wasn't flat enough! So make sure you have a laser smooth flat surface picked out for it. =)

It takes two lots instead of the one that other factories take. Real funny too considering Architects need to run more harvesters than anyone else.

It will pull directly from crates jsut fine, with the exception of structure modules.

If I recall correctly a structure factory costs 60 power/HR..dont remember maint..I just throw 10k in everytime it's getting low.

When making wall modules, unpack the structural modules from crates before starting it up, or you may lose them all.

Place the factory as close to your home as possible...you'll be making several trips back and forth on some things.

If you make a lot of OMU's, plants, or deeds, they will create a storage problem very fast, so limit yourself to orders + a few extra.

other than that, they're a tremendous asset.

Also note, they only use power when manufacturing.

Otherwise, they do not consume power.

actually, at this point the only thing that doesn't crate is the OMU's. plants crate just fine now.
