Thread: Terraforming, a new skill idea for Urban Planning

Ok I know that the urban planner doesnt exist, except maybe for a master architect master politician, but I feel that player cities as planned are a bit restrictive on where large cities can actually be built. Solution, terraform the landscape. Bulldoze in a bunch of dirt to level out the terrain and allow homes, halls, and civic structures.

This skill would have to have huge costs and require a master architect. I'm not an architect so I have no idea what materials let alone amounts would make sense for this ability but it should be something that would cost over 50k per spotto prevent it from happening everywhere. However it will allow a large number of homes and other structures to be placed where the ground is just a little too inclined. It will basically drop a 5x5 square peice of pavement, reminiscent of Coronet and bring the ground level to the grade that the architect is standing on. It can raise or lower ground to any level (take down a section of a mountain or turn a molehill into a mountain that is attached to it) and can't be removed. It will only be placeable inside of a cities limits and will disappear if the city does. As I said a 50k price tag would be just about right so people dont just drop these everywhere and turn towns intoa dull level plaza that could have gardens or homes anywhere they wanted.

Well just an idea I had and wanted to get down before my next class,

not quite.

Furniture colour i think i remember a dev saying they liked the idea but not yet

And apparently Terra-forming would be too hard to implement? I don't know why because when you lay down a camp you efffectivly terra form however that is what the devs said on this. People also have said terra forming could be part of a new mining proffession

Actually the Devs have stated before that they have a switch that they can move to change how easily or how hard a structure'sland flatness requirementscan be when placing a structure. They feel its fine how it is and that there is enough flat land to build on that they shouldn't have to change the setting or give us Terra ablities. Which sucks the big one, but not much you can do about it.

Yes there is enough flat land that you can build a city on...but its dull and either close enough to other cities to make it utterly pointless or nowhere near anything interesting. I'm really requesting this because the land that my PA hall, and a friendly neighbor's, and future city site is atop the plateaue in the Corellian riverlands where there is a good amount of flat land on top, punctuated with massive craters. It wouldn't be a big deal if they didn't judge distance across the surface area making the craters massive radius sinkholes as well. It's something we can work around and obviously will have to, however being able to fill in a few spots around these holes would do wonders for the city development. Oh well I can always wish.
