Thread: Personal Vendors are Useless

I now know why every vendor I see is always empty. Last night I put a few small houses and medium harvesters up for sale on mt vendor at 15k each. Since I don't get alot of time to play in the evenings I was hoping to get a few house sales while I'm not online. So before calling it a night I checked the vendor status just to see if I could pull some money oof it since it had had a few large sales that day.

I almost died when I saw my maintenance rate at 104 cr. I had to remove my 15k houses and harvesters from the vendor just to get it back down to 44 cr maintenance.

So in order to just offer my customers the ability to buy a small house SWG wants to charge me 5K a day.

I'll quit playing swg if it turns into a game where I cannot get ahead with hard work and good business practices. I refuse to rush home everyday just so i can make enough cash to pay for all the charges the game is heaping onto me.

The vendor is a stinken machine. If its going to have a maintenance rate then it should have 1 flat rate. I don't see any other droids in the game with a maintenance rate.

Even if the vendor is an NPC, give them a flat fee. Wallmart aint paying the cashier commisions.

I really want to play this game and be prosperouse and have a good time, but SWG with its over inflated costs and bugs is quickly taking all of the fun out of it.

MAKE SURE THIS GETS INTO THE WEEKLY REPORT - Topic We can't sell houses on the bazaar and we cant sell them on our vendors. No body else can sell anything either because the fees are detrimental to doing business.

lol i hear ya man, i made 50 personal minerals and thought i'd stock them on the shop.....3k creds wouuld last 6 hours? lol

This game isn't about freedom to create you own way, it's the exact opposite. You cant have enough slots to stay properly in business, your forbidden to own a home (slots again) and god forbid you want a factory too. This together with not being able to setup a shop within 10km of a city made me drop merchant like a scabby girl.

Architects get totally shafted. We have to sell at cost, and we can only offer a few items for sale at one time without paying huge maintenance fees. I guess the stupid machine has to work harder with a 100k house deedfor sale instead of 10 5k credit guns. I am doing my sales through the message boards now. The bazaar, and vendors are worthless.

Get your merchant up it helps some. Try being an armorsmith were every set of armor has around 9 pieces. I put around 100 items on my vender a night to make for some stock and my maintance is huge, but at least I can set the price and not be dictated by the bazaar.

At Novice Merchant, vendor Maintenance is 1 credit per 1000k in stock. The maintenance is based off of how much you charge. And of course, as your merchant skill in the Efficiency tree goes up, your maintenance costs are even further reduced from that.

In general, you're right... it doesn't work well to just load up your vendor with stuff and leave him there. But I use my vendors a lot for making trades and such. I make an item then send an e-mail to the client telling them I've placed it on the vendor, and that way they can buy it at their leisure instead of us both wasting the next hour or two trying to be in the same place at the same time.

Not all vendor types. In fact, of all of the ones I've tried so far at Novice Merchant, only the Bulky Terminal charges an arm and a leg. The Bulky Terminal is really only good for one thing, in my opinion: to get enough Merchant XP to make Novice Merchant. It should take you a couple of thousand credits in maintenance - all of which you seem to get Merchant XP for. If you want to make heavy use out of your personal vendor, if you want to use it for anything more than a mailbox, then you pretty much have to pick up Novice Merchant.

My best estimate is that each of my 3 (about to be 4) vendors has about 60,000 credits' worth of inventory in stock. Each one is charging me about 300 or so credits per day. OK, I do have Efficiency II, but I don't think that made that much difference.

NPC vendors have a maintenance rate of 1, no matter what they're loaded with. That's probably a bug, though.

Also, although the vendors may be "useless" for large structure deeds, they kick butt for furniture sales, in my opinion.

Its a know bug all the old vendors that were created before the bug fix have a maintence of 1. After the bug got fixed all new vendors got fixed so the increase of creds you charge increase the maitence rate. IE if I have 1000 items at 1 credite each it will be cheap as hell. But if I have 1 item at 9999999 credits it will be extremly expesnive.

This is something the devs need to fix. It just screws the architects once again.
