Thread: What can Furniture DO?
Hi...I'm mostly a weaponsmith on Intrepid, but I took up architecture as a secondary profession...first to make my own shop...then to furnish it. Afterwords, I decided to keep trying it for a while.
My major disappointment was that furniture was just too much like wallpaper and not very functional. I mean, ok...you can sit in chairs and stuff, but I guess I was expecting that I could store clothes in closets I made, write little stories in "books" on the bookshelf, keep resources stored away in a chest so they wouldn't clutter the place.
Maybe I'm missing something, but most of the furniture (and I can only make 1 and 2 so far) I've made just sits there and cannot be interacted with at all. Am I just not operating it right? If this is all there is to furniture I hope they add more functionality soon. Is there any furniture that can be used for anything besides decorations?
Before I close I also just wanted to say that my hat goes off to you guys that are primarily architects. Most of the time my weapons profits are always needed to subsidize my architecture...and I only build furniture now...dealing with players on houses can be a pain. I wish you guys all the luck in the world, I think a lot will really depend on people really getting into a role-playing mode because right now people seem to only care about killing things so weapons and armor guys get the cash and everyone else gets left in the cold.
Well that's all from me....good luck fellow builders!

Nope, the only furniture that works are chairs and sofas (for sitting on). Everything else is just decoration.
Loads of people have posted suggestions for working furniture in this forum. I'd like to see it too, but it's about 12th on the list of things that need to be fixed/changed in Architect (IMHO).
Furniture can look like furniture. Thats pretty much it.
As mentioned above the couches and chairswork (a bit stupidly though...only 1 person can use any chair or couch regardless of size). Torches work (only light source that does).
The rest is just clutter. Toolboxes dont store tools (seems stupid to have this in the first place better if they had a Weapons Rack). Closets, Armoires, Chests, Cabinets, etc. are not containers at all---merely decorative.
Lights are worthless...
Beds dont have a lay option....justa sit option.
No sinks or microwaves (or whatever they use to cook with).
No pictures or rugs or wallhangings.
No windows to see out of your house (completely stupid).
No recreational things like a Sabaac table or that chess table....
But they have a tree system so that means infinite growth. They can add objects anywhere they want in the tree or even expand the trees.
Alot is wrong with furniture right now.... Maybe there will be a furniture expansion pack ![]()
Thanks everyone for the info. It seems odd to me...my wife plays "The Sims" series of games a lot and all kind of stuff is added decor wise to that game all the time. Granted, there can't be as much amatuer creation for SWG as there is for that, but can't we get borrow some of those guys from the sims? :-)

You mean I can't put stuff in the tool box??? That is totally lame! I was giong to see if I could buy one of those to hold stuff. Thats just ridiculous.
What they really need to work on is Usable Cabinets, Bookcase and Chest so we can actually store inventory in them. It would be nice for my Chest and bookcase not just to be a decoration standing and taking up space in my house.
I would love to be able to place my extra resouces in a chest or cabinet and not have them laying around everywhere in my house.
Please let make this happen!
Josue15, just get some travel packs and drop them in your house. You can then put items in them for storage and clean up your floors. This also works with satchels, cargo pockets, and unlocked containers.
However, these containers do not increase the number of items you can drop in your house.

I do that now but it still looks messy! It would be nicer if we can store does items in a Cabinet or Chests. I don't want them to incr4ease how many items I can have in my house. Just like them to add inventory to chest, bookcase and Cabinets. ( is that really to hard?)
