There really needs to be a way to tell how long a resource has till it poofs, or some likelihood or something. Yet another Miner skill other than "speed up mining." When will the devs take off their blinders and see the player suggestions for a fun mining profession?

Your problem was that all resources don't change at the same time. Every 5-8 days there's a period of resource shifting. Because resources don't all change simultaneously, if you pick up and move to a new mineral, that new mineral may be about to die in a few hours. So, you need to do what a friend and I do. Write down all the minerals (or whatnot)on your planet of choice currently (or as many planets as you like), preferably the full name (such as enoc or triiseriassjkfhlasejh, lol) and not just "phrik aluminum". Then, when you notice a resource gone (after checking your mineral survey or realizing your harv stopped), start checking the survey tool once an hour or so. If you see a new resource name on there, you should have at least 5 days guaranteed that it'll be there so if you're surveying about, pick that one to look for. A little more work, but stuff like moving your harvs twice in a day won't happen anymore.

ok...

so you have say 10 harvesters up....

there working great....

then.....

You go back to pick up the minerals etc in the hopper and you find your trusty harvester has stopped. how could this happen??? i paid my dues...i put energy in there....how??

well see since the last week any resourse you try and mine evaporates in 6 hours....probably less. And worse yet when you try to find another resourse to mine you get something like this...

some random useless material 12%

another randome useless material 6%

yet another useless material 43%

now you say to yourself....i ran around scouted out this site and there is not another harvester within 700m...how can this happen??? well your guess is as good as mine. So what do you do next you ask?? you pick up your havesters at a cost of 3k per(30k) and find a new spot.....or in my case a new planet. You set these harvesters all back up at a nice cost of(20 to 30k) and you think ok...this is it...were back in buisness. You get some sleep....you wake up in the morning and check and yes!! yet again the minerals have changed and anything you need has disappeared!! So now theres no minerals again what do you do?? leave the harvesters up to rust?? pick them up at a cost of 30k again?? well you guessed it.....another 30k down the drain. Now half the money i had has gone and i have 10 harvesters in my inventory.

ok...so you might think this whinefest is over....your wrong.

so now you think...ok i need to get some other stuff done. But hmm...i seem to be short in copper. well i only need about 50. no problem i can /sample that. you run around and find a great spot. wow...the readings are off the roof...this will be quick!! you click on the "get sample" and you kneel down to get those samples and you see your green bar take a hit of -231 and then you stand right back up. now whats going on??? well it seems that "the sample you are trying to locate is to to far away" or something to that effect. Yes!! now we can't even sample without putting up a harvester!!! no way to test the quality of samples before you put up the harvester. you got to spend 3k+ to put that harvester down and mine it to get a sample. the joy!

ok.....whinefest off. i'm on vacation for 4 days. hopefully when i get back something gets fixed.
