sounds stupid but...which is best. an archi sold me -30 FR stations telling me they were the best. is he mistaken?

well, actually, no... a positive number would be the "best". some folks are getting into the +40 range using top tier materials.

now, whether or not it makes a difference at the moment is a topic that has been much discussed and debated. I won't go into all that here as there are several threads that discuss this already.

But to answer your question, + is always better than -.

They are working as far as I know. I have received less failures with better ones.

-30... I couldn't reach something THAT bad even if I tried, haha, every metal I have used without additional components only reach to -17

Zilious, you can do it... use poorly crafted subcomponents and they will actually subtract from the base rating you get on the station.

I'm not sure of the exact numbers (Blackperl has done the most with this and probly does) but best as I can recall them, the base station will run from about -15 to +15, each added subcomponent carries its own number (runs roughly from -3 to +3 if i recall) which in the final product is all added together to give you a final effectiveness number...

so, you could have this... base station = -15 all subcomponents (9 of them) = -3 each (-27 total)

added up this would come to a -42 crafting effectiveness rating.

oh, and for those that have reported seeing a difference in the stations, the number seems to actually come in the experimentation aspect as opposed to crit failures on assembly. Like I said, I won't debate it here, but we have nothing official at this point.

This sounds like a contest... lets see who can make the worst one

We dont know if a poistive number helps yet for sure, but I sure feel like it helps. If it doesnt it is intended too and eventually will.

Yes, personal crafting stations..

You can have positive values. People are making +40 and above crafting stations.

The highest I've yet seen on a crafting tool is +14.94.

All of the ones in my house are rated positive, they arent fantastic, but they are all positive and above 10.

At this point my gut feeling is these might be affecting experimentation (stations) but not crit failures. I'd love for the devs to just let us know what its supposed to affect if nothing else. I use a station rated at 3 in my house but i rarely experiment so really haven't tested much. but, I almost never crit fail anything of consequence either so <shrug> who knows.

I know for sure that stations with no Optional Components Range from -15 to +15.

I know for certain that Droid Structure Components will modify that range by -5 to +5.

I am guessing at this stage that all of the other components (Control Unit, Control Unit, Electronic GP, Energy Distributor, Sensor Suite) also modify the range by -5 to +5.

This would result in stations ranging from -45 to +45. Also this assumption perfectly calulates the stations that I have built at +43.14.

Positive Stations are much harder to get than Negative ones. Stations > +40 are a royal PITA.
