Thread: newbie house questions
Ok guys sorry if these have been done to death
How much should I expect to pay for a small house?
Do houses have ongoing costs (credits or power) like harvesters do? (if so how much)
Do I automatically get a vendor in my house (or do I need to buy it, or have certain skills to get it)
Does a vendor have any ongoing costs?
Thanks
Small houses range from 9k to 15k in pricing depending on your server and planet location(I sell planet specifics for around 10 to 13k depending on available resources, and generics I sell up to 15k... and I leave a little barter room in there... yes, I am open to haggling a little on price, but not much).
Maintenance on a small house is roughly 400 credits per day.
You do not automatically get a vendor... you must have Business 3 or above in the artisan skill tree to get access to a vendor. Once you have business 3 or above, you'll have the "create a vendor" option on your house management terminal. Creation of the vendor is free, but it does have a maintenance cost. It's variable based on the amount of items you stock, and the prices you charge. It starts out at 1 credit and ramps up from there. I have over 100 items stocked in mine with prices raning up to 3k, and I pay around 150 credits an hour to maintain it. All in all, well worth it, since I don't have to shout for sales, or sit in my shop and do manual transfers, or even be online for my customers. It's a nessessity of business to have a vendor if you really want to be serious about your trade.
Hope that helps ya out.

Houses usually run 10-20k for a small, 50-75+ for a medium andGoddess only knows much larger than that.
You obtain a merchant through the business skill in the artisan line at business 3. You receive a second merchant when you complete the first box Novice Merchant in the merchant line. And you get additional merchants within the merchant skill tree. They start out as very large bulky boxes and gradually improve with your skills. At novice merchant you get a random NPC and you can "reroll" until you get a race and appearance that you like.
Merchants have a low upkeep and its based on the value of what you have for sale, but the maintenance on merchants has been set artificially low (and still seems to be but others have reported it fixed). Houses are 400 upkeep per day for a small and 800 for a medium, there's no power requirements.
Thanks guys, one last question
Are themaintainence fewws (for house and vendor) automatically deducted from your bank or must you manually 'fill up' your house with money?
BUT when people buy things from the vendor the money goes into the Vendor maint pool and you CAN remove moeny from it if you want.

Ok, I'm throwing a flag here. Not only does that sound totally opposite of what it should be, it's totally opposite from what I've seen. (I have a shop with a vendor, and a vendor in another person's house.) Yes, you have to pay money manually into the house and vendor. However, when somebody buys an item off of my vendors, the money get's deposited automagically into my *bank account* not into the vendor's maintenance pool. I've sold tens of thousands of credits worth of items in the last few days alone. My bank account always swells while I sleep, and my time remaining on the vendor always creeps downwards.
You'll need to keep an eye on your vendor's status and pay as needed. Or, more likely in your case, the merchant who places the vendor there will have to do it unless/until you have the business skill to place one there of your own.
hi all,
i have been saving up for a houseand i'm ready to give it a shot.. so i have a few basic questions i'd like to have answered before i do so.. so hopefully you guys can help me out. sorry if any of these questions have obvious answers.. i'm completely new to this area of the game. (and board)
is there a way to move a house once it is originally planted?
if there is.. how do i go about doing that? how much does it cost? and does the price depend on the size?
i'm worried that i'll spend a bunch of money and then try to move it and lose the deed - had a friend who said this happened to them =/. so any basic advice would be great.
thanks in advance ![]()
