Thread: New harvestor changes and some ethics

I was pondering today over what to do about the changes that supposedly won't stay but just might.

My debate was over medium minerals. The base rate is an extraction rate of 4. But I can get them to 7 by experimentationg on the ligh ore piece. So I said, if a medium can do the work of a heavy, what do I charge? If I charge less then a heavy, no one will buy a heavy. If I charge as much as a heavy, i am sure people will swear at me and call me a weaponsmith.

I also asked myself, what if I start charging more and they put up a patch to make all harvstors back to prepatch lvls. Is there an ethical question here. Am I suckering people out of credits for something that might not stay? I have yet to get a response from the devs and am going to pester our corespondant to get an answer as well. I would love, personally for myself, to have mediums do the work of heavies for my own sake but the pricing gets all out of wack.

Whether is stays or not, I urge you all to be very careful with your pricing. If they take it away, you might have folks asking for a partial refund and if you don't give it you might hurt your rep. Or not.

If it stays, this could be a chance to get some respect for our items pricewise. It would be like day one again for us with pricing. Lets not screw it up this time.

I have been thinking the same thoughts. What I am doing is not putting any new experimented harvesters on my vendor until I get word about whether this is staying in. This tactic only works if you had vendor stock before the patch, ofcourse. I carry a "self stock" of 8 heavys and 5 mediums, plus a med chem and med gas. I've been experimenting meds and swapping out my self stock for the vendor (with base stats). I also swapped out a couple experimented heavys. Now I am back stocking experimented harvesters. I did put a couple meds with 5 extraction on my vendor for just a hair over what I normally charge for mediums just to see what would happen.

If the new system stays in as it is now, I will most likely lower my price on "standard heavys" and also on standard meds. I will also raise my price on meds with a 7 or higher considerably. I'd also raise my price on heavys with a 10 or higher. However, I see very LITTLE chance of these new rates staying. I think they will take it completely out. I would really like to see at least a compromise of being able to raise the extraction rate at least a point or two, but I doubt it.
