Thread: What am I doing wrong??
Hiya, I'm a Tailor, CH, Carbine Spec. CH has it's problems right now, but I'm here to find out what in the heck I'm doing wrong with tailor.
I've had Novice Tailor for almost two weeks, that took forever to get crafting xp to get!! LOL. I have yet to earn enough exp for even my first skill. I craft my butt off. I keep a tally of what each item garners, including the pts for the manufactured components (metal fasteners, synthetic cloth, fiberplast panel). The maximum item so far (when by experimenting station) is the "sleeveless dress" about 221 xp. The time it takes me to make one sleeveless dress I can make5 ribbed shirts for about 147 xp because I don't have to makeany components. So it makes more sense to me to make the ribbed shirts and I can make that one anywhere. I craft when I'm sampling, I craft when I'm healing, I craft when someone is chatting at me. The only time I don't craft is when running or in combat. I'm just over half way to 32000 xp needed for my first tailor skill. AAARGHHHHH. I play about 5 hours in the evening during the week and probably put in about 20+ hours over the weekend. (Lucky for me my husband plays too, so it's not like it interferes w/ homelife, heheh)
At first I blamed the game. "OH MY GOSH, I can't believe I have to obtain 32000xp and most items give me piddly xp to make them. Then I realized that it needs to be this way or it would take no time to make MT. Okay fine. But is this normal? Does it take everyone FOREVER to obtain a single skill on the skill tree or am I missing something very important?? I've haven't been able to find anyone else complaining how long it takes to get a skill so I am assuming I'm doing something terribly wrong. What is it?
TIA

First off, always craft while running. ![]()
If you're trying to grind up, you need 4 crafting tools minimum. Also, don't talk to people. Ignore them, put on AFK and pretend they aren't there.
With 4 crafting tools and minimal lag you should be able to produce4 ribbed shirts in a minute. At 147xp each that's 588xp per minute. Grind SOLID(no talking, no stopping, no pausing, no resting, no nothing but clicking..) you should be able to get your 32,000xp skill in just about 1 hour.
Repeat till your wrists shatter or you get the skills you want. ![]()
No, you're not doing anything wrong. Crafting skills are just really, really slow and boring. But it's worth it. It took me a month and a half to get Master Tailor, but now I have a booming business and a great reputation.
Good, its not just me...
I tried things out just to compare tailor to armorsmith and found tailor to be more of a grind....
However, more people seem to buy clothes than armor...
Of course, until its fixed, I don't dare become a master tailor as well as armorsmith.
Ok it takes 217 ribbed shirts to make one box of tailor. It takes 6500 fiberplast and metal (no fails) so 7000 is a more sensible number.
If you have all the resorces it should take around one hour to make the first skill box in tailor doing nothing but grinding.
you need 6 clothing tools. put them all in your tool bar. in the shift f1 - f6 slots
Then you need to make a macro
/ui action toolbarSlot12; (the 12 means your crafting tool is in the shift-F1 slot)
/ui selectdraftschematic 37; (this number is different for everyone depends on the order in which you got the schematics, some trial and error will be needed untill you find your one for ribbed shirt.)
Make 6 macros remembering to change toolbarSlot12; to toolbarSlot13; and so on. put these macros in the f1 to f6 slots.
Use these macros to open your crafting tool and select the schematic you want. Just have the fiberplast and metal in your inventroy so you don't have to scroll through materials. remember you double click on the resource to put it into its slot not drag it. If you have a 4 button mouse bind one key to double click and one key to enter (enter moves to the next crafting stage)
Now find a non laggy place away from people and not near a crafting station.
Grind away you should be able to make one shirt every 15 seconds (remember to use practice) and so it will take just under an hour to make a box. I made 4 skill boxes yesturday and then ran out of fiberplast and I didn't spend all day doing it,
Good luck
Heh, I didn't know you could do that /ui selectdraftschematic trick. That could've saved me valuable seconds! ![]()
Yes, I'm being sarcastic. I realize those seconds do add up over time.
when I did the steps I outlined above I cut my town down from 24 seconds to 9 seconds per item.
If you find a nice non laggy area and have the resources you need you can make master tailor in :
200000xp ish(to go up to field wear 4) making ribed shirts at 147xp each = 1360 shirts x 9 seconds = 12244 seconds = 3.4 hours.
Now you can make cartridge belts at 299xp each
600000xp to do the other 3 skill trees = 2006 belts x 9 seconds = 18060 seconds = 5 hours
5 + 3.4 = 8.4 hours to max tailor you then of course need to get apprentiship xp.
8.4 hours that sounds **edit** quick but have you ever tried to grind constantly for 1 hour without doing anything else as quick as you can? after an hour ive lost the will to live. 8.4 hours is a lot of grinding.
you also will need 302260 resources assumeing no fails.
lol I have no idea why I just worked that out lol
Cheers
Twinny
Ribbed shirts until Field wear 2
Link steel gloves until Field wear 4
Cartrige (sp?) belts for the rest
Make sure you have a lot of rescources,I was able to get 3 skills in one day this way
I got about 200k exp a day...Its so easy, just make millions of ribbed shirts in practice mode. Thats it. And, get master Image Designer so you can fund your harvestors. Image Designer is the easiest skill in the game, and can be mastered in about 3 days. It also pays incredibly well.
