Thread: Is his true
No, it's not true and he needs a good kicking.
My advice is, play your heart out. If architect is your dream - go for it. You'll decide if you like it or not. If you do, you can ignore other idiots that tell you 'xyz' sucks. If not, you've learnt heaps about a profession, gained some crafting, merchant experience, made a reasonable customer base with any luck, mastered harvesters, factories and generally had fun. Then you can move on and try something else.
I have a feeling that you'll like it ![]()
You can certainly make money and people do buy our stuff.
It takes work to get a successful business going but thats the case for any crafting prof.
Far too often people try to undercut everyone but ultimately you're just hurting yourself.
People have money to spend. If you develop a reputation of having what people want when they want it, they'll pay higher prices just for the convenience.

Im crafting on tatoonie when another crafter comes up and says what crafting perfession are you going with i told him i want to be a master architect and he says dont do it architects make no money at all and no one will buy your things is this true because i really want to be a architect.
Well, I have an alt that has been an Architect going on for almost 2 years now and in the beginning I was making good money from selling harvs. Nowadays, not many people will buy harvs because they don't break down or vape once they run out of Maint because of the bank withdrawal thing they implemented. My biggest sellers are houses and factories. But for quantity purposes I sell a ton of furniture. Probably because I rename almost 95% of my furniture during the crafting process. For example; Instead of making a Potted Tree, Style 1 I will rename it to Ithorian Prayer Tree and make about 40 of them. Then I split my factory crates up into groups of 4 and the inidividuals that are elft over I sell by themselves. This way people have the option to buy a crate or 1 at a time. To enhance this I also have a Droid Engineer Alt that makes droid Chassis to be used for decoration purposes too and believe it or not, they sell rather well. If your Architect is your primary character you can make even more money by offering your services as a Home Decorator. Also use a little imagination when decorating. There are plenty of items in SWG that you can use to decorate a building along with crafted furniture to enhance an effect or look you're trying to go for. For example; I took up Nov Shipwright with my Architect and using some imagination, I can craft them starship components and rename them to different things depending on the look I am going for.
Remember, if you have a good imagination, and do not over price anything, and you're a very friendly and fair Architect you can make a lot of money in your business. I just recently decorated a City Hall on Talus on Lowca Server in a city called Azakia. If you can ever get a chance, go there and look. There are plenty of ideas out there and plenty to be thought up still.
Good luck =)

While it is true that our product does not deteriorate that does not mean that an individual can't have a booming business selling our deeds. Theres a lot of new players coming into the game now and a lot of them are going to buy 10 heavy harvesters, a house and a bunch of furniture. Theres plenty of money to be made.
Could a chef or weaponsmith make more? Sure. But I'm sure many of us architects have made a lot more then a lot of the chefs, weaponsmiths and armorsmiths.
Hmm..I guess I don't see the money because I don't advertise as agressively as others do. I just wanted to point out one of the basic facts about our products. Don't get me wrong, I love architect, it was my first, and nearly only (I had to have a tailor, I'm a clothes nut) elite crafting profession, but I alsofeel people should be informed before they undertake the huge resource sink necessary to become a Master, only to become disappointed in that first week/month/3 months when they haven't made as much money as expected.

Advertising helps. If you were a WS and didn't advertise or otherwise promote your business then it may never get off the ground.
You can put millions in to WS or AS before you're on top and making good money. Their resource requirements are substantial. They need dozens of different things of very high quality.
Other crafting profs aren't instant cash machines. They require time, work and investement as well.
It all does depend on the individual server market. There may be a ton of good crafters on one server and not a lot of room for new people and it might bea difficult road to success. Or there might be scarcity for the individual craft prof and it mgight be easier to jump in and make decent money.
The original post was about whether architect was a dead prof that never sells anything.
Can someone make 2-5m a week as an architect? Yes that is certainly possible. Theres several of us here who can verify that.

But my architect is the alt of my Jedi, and I'd rather be playing that character when not crafting than tying up the account getting /addignored in starports (Dant MOP? I have a virtually lag-free experience there, because I have all the spammers on ignore).

The original post was about whether architect was a dead prof that never sells anything. Bottom line, I'm just trying to inject a bit of reality into the post so he doesn't have stars in his eyes. I certainly never claimed it was a dead prof, in fact, I have stated in just about every post that I love being an architect.

There are also Jedi who can (or say they can) tank everything in the game. I'm not one of those players either. I'm just trying to provide a middle-of-the-road viewpoint, be it welcome or not. Fortunately, I'm home from work now, so I can better direct my energies into the actual game instead of the forums. Good day.

Yes certaiinly their items decay and ours don't. But that doesn't mean we can't still out sell a specific WS or Chef in terms of revenue. We still have business from new players and turnover.
Lack of decay its something we've dealt with for 2 years.
The original post was about whether you can make money as an Arch. Yes you can. Decay or lack of it is irrelevant to the fact that we can make money.

There isn't any unreality in anything anyone else said. Your point seems to be that other profs will / can make more than us. They certainly can but they don't necessarily.

Your opinion is welcome. But I disagree with you some. Your original point was that you "will never be able to keep up with" chefs, WS or AS. Thats an absolute. Granted many of those guys have great sales. But given the situation I think its certainly possible for us to do as well or sometimes better. Everyones individual experiences will differ but theres no absolute that we will sell less then them cause they have decay and we don't.
I think it also matters as much about how well the profession works for us as individuals. I might suck as a WS and do great as an Arch. Some people might flop as an Arch but do fabulous as a Chef.
