Thread: Hey all
I'm starting as a medic, don't not much about them, but its a good break from my maxed out character (see signature).
I was just wondering if y'all had any tips you might be able to give a newb medic. (don't worry, I don't talk like this ingame, I RP)
1) Start as artisan and pick up medic, that means you get free survey tools to make your meds with.
2) When your first start, try spending some time in the med centers healing peoples wounds, you wont be very effective with stim A's / wound pack A's untill you advanced in org chem and can make stim / wound pack B's
3) Once you can make stim B's you will then be semi-capable in combat. Healing people in combat is the best way to make med xp.
4) Stim B's are also quite popular to buy / sell, so if you can make them cheaply, you can possably sell them and make a few creds out of it.
5) Dont expect tips to provide an income, if anything, take up a combat class and run missions for creds / resources.
Hope that helps

1.) Agree completely. Wish I had thought of that. ![]()
2.) Agree again. Run a few missions to get some credits, then go to the bazaar and buy some supplies (this saves a lot of time, as opposed to sampling yourself - of course, if you don't care about time, go sample). Make your meds to heal patients before they get there (2 or 3 minimum) because they'll be waiting long enough for you to heal them already.
3.) agree again.
4.) You could try this, but you are going to have a hard time competing with the others on there. I would suggest just saving your stims for number 3.
5.) Um, yea.
6.) Since you're RP'ing this might be a given, but talk to the people while you're healing them. I always try to do this and usually get tipped. Also, unless you're just trying to get xp as fast as possible, or competing with other medics in there, ask the patient if they want you to heal them or id they would like to heal on their own. That simple step might help with tips as well.
7.) When creating your character, increase your mind secondary pools and make your mind at least 900 or 1000. You'll need willpower and focus to be as high as possible so that your mind isn't a factor when healing people.
8.) Sit when you're healing people and don't wear a helmet. This will increase your mind regeneration.
9.) When you're in the med center, be sure to show your medic profession. If you show Artisan or Marksman, no one will know you're main point in being there is to heal people.
Well, don't know about anyone else, but I'd quite like to know what the /commands are for interacting with Factories. Mine got stuck yesterday (Infinitely animating radial doodah).
Targeted it and tried /open, but that just gave me a 'Schematic Hopper', which I couldn't take anything out of. No idea how to get to the ingredient or output hoppers, or any of the maintenance stuff.
If it's furniture positioning you need, it's:
/movefurniture FORWARD/BACK (distance)
/rotatefurniture LEFT/RIGHT (degrees)
