Thread: Some ideas and comments
Being a new Chef and after reading some of the posts, I just wanted to make afew comments and pitch a few ideas. Some might be good, others not but keep in mind they are just ideas and wild thoughts. Keep in mind, I haven't sifted through all the thousands of posts! So if I bring something old up, sorry.
I'm wondering about the xp issues. It sure doesn't seem like the xps gained are very proportional to the complexity of the item. It sure seems rather excessive when you have to make 32k xps just to get to one of the first level Chef skills, all on 50-70 xps a pop. I'd like to spend some time exploring the galaxy and participate in something other than skill grinding. Are other artisan skills/classes hampered in this way or is it just me not looking forward to spending that many hours in front of my computer grinding? hehe
An I'm sorry the food in the Domestic Arts skill line should give us xps.
After reading some of the other posts, I do agree that having some Chef related goods, gear and clothing would be nice to have. Heck, if I had a chef's hat, i'd probably never wear a helmet again! hehe.
I agree that the buffs are very much under duration and the ideas that other people had about having some food do skill buffs sounds like a wonderous ideas. Also maybe something that can make you heal faster if you should find yourself healing in a camp in the wilds without a medic. Something to make you run faster, help you mask your scent ("No Mr. Squill, we don't smell good at all, leave us alone!"), animal repellants or lures ("Eat the steak, not me!) for when you're running away from that bocatt hot on your butt. Hehe... I can already see myself running away from six bocatts, flinging bags of food over my shoulder!
Keeping up with the some of the other things food and Chefs can do, how about poison power-ups for melee weapons? How about poison or disease attacks similar to traps and combat medic poison and disease attacks. I know this last idea is a rather wild thought and may seem stupid but it gives Chefs something neat to bring to the battlefield.
My last idea is the add of additional optional components that Chefs can make (not having to rely on bio-engineers). How about herbs, spices and seasonings that we can harvest, process and add to our recipes to increase the flavor and texture and nutrient values. Sounds like a good add to cooking experimentation (which seems we dont get enough experimental slots).
The game is still young and still has much room to grow. Yes, things have to be done but keep in mind, its just like when your sitting in the med center filled with wounded and only two medics-- its going to take time. They can't heal you all at once. Whining isn't going to help but hopefully constructive criticism will. Be safe out there people and take care.

Oops, messed up thatpost. Here's what I wanted to say...
Now I'm not an architect, nor have I sifted through all the thousands of posts but I am a happy home-owner and would like to pitch some ideas and make a few comments These are mainly ideas for future develpment. If I come up with something already mentioned, sorry to dredge up old news.
- What I would like to greatly see is to have chests and other items of the such actually hold items like a pack. Make those chests and armoires actually worth something. I would look nicer than having a bunch of backpacks strapped to the walls.
- Some rugs/carpets would be nice. So would art work of all kinds from statues to paintings.
- I thought that building near and with other houses is supposed to reduce the maintennce cost. My place is smack dab in the middle of large group of buildings but my maintinence is still the same.
- How about lamps giving off light. Torches tend to lag me up something fierce and if you're in a nice and modern house, having torches seems to be a bit off.
- Is it me or do the white walls in the generic houses tend to wash everything out. Kinda hard to see things in those houses.
- Yes, yes, yes... we need an elevation command!
- I'd like to be able to keep out Imperials (when I'm playing my Rebel) but could see how this would be a major exploit for fights in and around buildings. Sometimes you just don't want to sell your stuff to those of an opposing faction (or just have them running around your place). Maybe we can have our Vendors able to deny service to a particular faction... overts of course.
- Room by room controls, for everything from illumination, to administrator list, to ban and entry lists(effectively locking your doors).
- For my doctor's house (and for places like PA Halls) med-center like furniture and abilities.
Thats it for now. Everybody take care and be safe!

I say no to poison's and diseases. Chef's are about foods.
I don't think that the combat medic's unique class defining abilities should be given to any other class. I have seen this happen in other games and it has ruined the game completely.
