Thread: Self Unpacking Factory Crates
Are factory crates eventually going to be able to unpack themselves inside a factory's input hopper? I'm getting carpal tunnel making wall modules.
I hear rumors that they are suppose to do that now.
SUPPOSEDLY ... (I've heard mixed results and don't wanna try it) if you unpack one from the crate .. stick the item and the crate in the resource hopper, it "auto" uses what's in the crate.
I've also heard people say it's worked for them one time but not another. So it seems independable.
You can try it though.
I've only started doing it about a week ago, but I haven't had any problems with using crates in the input hopper. The only time it doesn't work is with fresh crates, if they have the "can't get items out of crate" bug. Just don't drag them straight from the output to the input hopper. If you want to use a crate you just made, pull it into your inventory, make sure you can pull an item out of it, then dump the crate into the input hopper. Always worked for me...
Today, I was ABLE to make Micro Sensor Suites from crated components.
I was UNABLE to make Walls from crated Stuct Mods.
I think the problem with walls might have something to do with needing more than one struct mod per slot in the schematic. The Sensor Suite only uses one of each component per combine, the wall needs 10 struct mods.
Oh BTW, both of the above examples was putting the ingredients into the input hopper in the order that was on the master schematic in my datapad.

I wonder if it would work then to put 10 crates of structure mods in. hmm. I think it is caused by the same thing that doesn't require structure mods that have the same serial number in factory built wall module. Just a guess, but while we're hypothosizing.
