Thread: Structure Factory Schematics and Identical Power Core Units

I just built my first structure factory and need some direction on how to properly use it before I start wasting resources. I need to build two identical power core units for a future PA Hall so bear with me...

As my understanding this is what is required. First, I need to put the materials together for a power core unit including building a generator turbine, power conditioner and energy distributor components. After I have the components assembled I put all of the ingredients together and instead of building a prototype, I build a schematic.

Next I go to the factory with my schematic and double the amount of the identical resources used to build the power core unit and its components (because I need two power core units) and place the schematic and resources into the factory. I ask for twopower core units to be produced and like magic the two identical power core units appear in the hopper.

Is that the process? What am I missing? Can I get the schematic back from the factory once the items have been produced? Do I need to put 3-4x the resouces in the factory for two power core units because a chance of critical failures?

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Because a Power Core Unit requires subcomponents, you'll first have to do factory runs of all the subcomponents. This means you'll need to do a run of Generator Turbines yourself and buy or produce crates of Energy Distributors and Power Conditioners.

Since you need 2 PCUs, you'll need at least 3 each of the Distributors, Conditioners, and Turbines - you use 1 of each to make the PCU schematic, and then the other two to produce the factory PCUs.

This means that, for at least the turbines, you'll need the resources to make 4 of them - one for the turbine schematic, then a factory run of 3 (one of which is used in the PCU schematic).

just make sure all the parts are identical, the parts used for power core schematic are identical to production units(generators, power conditioners, etc... all need to be factory produced as well)....

I tend to have problems making generators with factory(always lose one)....

I try to make 10 of these at a time as a minimum, if not your wasting a lot of resources with all the factory work that has to be done...

Ok I need to be sure I understand (yes I need to be talked to like a second grader).

First, I need to make a schematic for a generator turbine, power conditioner, and energy distributor with my structure crafting station. Then I take the schematic for each to the factory along with enough resources for four of each of them and produce the subcomponents at the factory.

Next I take one of each of the components from the factory (leaving the remainder in the factory) and go back to the crafting station using the components and create a schematic for a power core unit.

Next I take the power core unit schematic to the factory along with the remaining resources needed to produce two power core units and magically the two identical power core units appear?

Forgive my stupidity and thanks in advance for any response!

P.S. Do I get the schematics back?

IMPORTANT

for the final Power core factory run, make sure you have enough resouces/compoent for at least 1 more than you need. Factory will always say eat enough resources for 4 power core but only make 3

and yes you can get your schm back until the the counter run to 0 in which case they auto delete themselves

Just remember the energy distrubutor and power conditioner are made by Master Artisans. So they need to be run off of an equipment factory.

If you are going to do a production run in the structural factory here are some things I learned, most the hard way.

The schematic size is max 1000. There is no reason not to set it to its max. I got burned because I thought it was 100 and I ended up with 3 types of structurals where I could have had 1 to build 18 walls. I ended up wasting 2 structural components and 2 walls on schematics I should not have needed.

Make production runs in ratios that make sense. Generator Turbines should be made in multiples of 2. Most things require 1 or 2 or some multiple of 2 (fusions require 6). A structural component on the other hand is probably best in multiples of 10 so that you can make walls.

Keep in mind that you use up the resources for one example of what you are building. If you want to make 10 of something make sure you have the resources to make 11, and you may want to take into account possibly failing on the schematic.

Larger components made of smaller components require "identical sub components". So a wall schematic requires the same ore, metal and the same structurals you use to make it. So if you want to make 10 walls plan to do a run of at least 620 structural modules to be safe (in case you fail on the wall schematic).

REMEMBER TO ADD the extra components.

the factory bugs eats premade parts so make sure waht ever it asks for you do +1

Wall Schm would eat any Struct modules, they don't have to be identical.... hell when I'm in a hurry I throw enough resources for say 20 struct mod into the factory and at the same time hand craft some more then I throw them all into the factory to make walls. works fine even with stuct modules built using totally different metals/ores.

Reason why Wall Schm don't require identical struct mod? Because back in beta you cannot have schm over 100 count. Therefore you couldn't build PA Hall, so the Dev release the restriction on walls to allow PA hall to be build(back in beta that is)
