I'm not really sure who/where to ask this, but I've been a little uncertain about the "potency" rating on looted weapons... DoT's to be precise. Does someone have a definitive answer on this percentage? If not, do you know where I can read about it? I've been looting a fair number of NS weapons and I'm having a hard time figuring out the impact that potency has on the pricing of the weapon (when I want to sell it).

I know this has nothing really to do with Weaponsmith's and crafting, but I figured that out of all the other professions you folks would probably have the most educated answer on it.

Thank you, in advance.

Thank you, to those that answered... much appreciated.

In my experiance its all a chance to hit just like ever other random thing in a game a break downwould say in my own opinion

80%-100% first or second hit

60-79% sill stick by 4th hit

30-59 may stick on third but could take up to 10 hits

29% and under just spam it and hope for the best i've seen 18% potency stuff stick on the 3th hit but also take alot more

Actually, the 2 best places for this question would go the Pikemen board or the more generic Core Systems board. However, as a pvper, I have been on both ends of the "dot weapons" in combat and I try to understand all aspects of it. The potency of you weapon is basically a straight percentage on how easily the dot will "stick." A potency of 75% will stick much easier then a 5% potency. It has been in my experiences through testing and actual combat that your skill with the weapon effects this too. A master for example can pretty much stick anything 10% and above with relative ease, while someone barely qualified to use the weapon will have a bit harder time. Now I'm not entirely sure about the weapons with potency higher then 100%, some say that this is to get the dot to be stronger or last longer, but I am almost certain it doesn't add any more of a bonus then a weapon with 100% except in the case of doctor buffs. As you may or may not know, a doctor can give you a buff for poison and/or disease resistance which can shut down most dot weapons with potencies lower then the resistance of the doc buff.

If you have any further questions, or have heard defferently on any of this, then try the other 2 forums I recommended,
