Thread: Some schematics not requiring serial specific components: bug or working as intended?

In the couple of months that I have been an architect and doing factory runs of items, I have noticed that some schematics do not always call for the serialized components that were used when the schematic was made. For example, a few of these schems that I have noticed this are small housing schems, fusion gens, and crafting stations. I can understand not needing serialized components in schematics that call for "similar" components or components where quality does not really matter, but what about OMUs in fusion gens or all the optional components for crafting stations where the qualtiy of these components effect the quality of the final product? Is this a bug or working as intended? Thanks

For the 'similar' items I think its working as intended where theres no serial number.

For the other items, OMUs in fusion gens and the parts in crafting stations, I assume its a bug. Been that way forever.

Originally, a factory run would only produce up to 100 units. so any schematic that required more than a hundred units of the smallest component used had to be made into similar parts. Otherwise, it would be impossible to make.

So, when a schematic says similar items, it doesn't require exact serial numbers. when it askes for identical items, they have to have the exact same serial number.

It is intended and not a bug.

The different styles of streetlights also require "similar" components and can, therefore, be made with any old GP modules.

That makes sense for wall modules.

But not for the ore mining units in fusions or the optional parts in crafting stations. I think those are not working right and should require serial number parts.
