Well knew this for a while and im bored so i figured i would post a quick tip here

Drop a Chair, any kind, have it point in the direction you want to move the item

Use the Forward command or macro it to move the item on a perfectly straight line

i designed a houses and fishtank setups with this by just having chairs placed and moving items perfectly straight, takes the guess work out of everything

i know this is nothing knew but i told 2 architect friends and they had never heard it before lol

I don't quite follow. What do you use the chair for exactly?

You sit in the chair and move items forward or backward. The items will move whichever direction the chair is facing when you sit in it. I use this method all the time and it works great. Better to use a chair with a low back though like the upholstered chair or the ottoman so the camera doesn't go to first person.

KING Pawlin is old and fragile so when somebody puts a chair in front of him he sits in it and falls asleep.

This would be an excellent tip to add to TH's Tuesday Tips next week.

Personally, I usually use an ottoman because it doesn't have a back on it so the camera doesn't freak out on me as I pan and zoom around the room in 3rd person.

I always find a line (edge of carpet, edge of couch, edge of resource crate, etc). Then look straight down at it and rotate the camera until it is one solid straight line. Then take a couple of steps in one direction and I'll be oriented perfectly.

Comes in handy when dropping stuff at point A then moving to point B and dropping more stuff. The chair method works well, but if you move, you have to do it all over again.

You wouldnt have to walk and drop ... simply drop everything where you sit and move it forward to its place, you get a straight line and equal spaces between the items ... i love the chair method

I'm confused....

How does sitting in a chair while dropping stuff for typing /move forward 150 work better than standing there doing the same thing?

Why do people pay to play a MMORPG but not want to interact with other people?
Why, SOELA, why? Did the entire management join a cult, and at the same time perform home lobotomies?
It takes less time to look at the stickies than to ask a question and wait for sarcastic replies. So please oh PLEASE ask the same question many times. I enjoy the sarcastic remarks.

Because say you want to stack your resources in perfect rows on top of each other on the wall. If you didn't sit down in the chair when you select the resources chances are you might bump up key or something and it amkes the vertical stand look out of place if you're sitting in a chair you don't move and are guarenteed perfect rows on the wall. I've used it before. It's quite handy.

Guess the only times when i hit the up key by accident is when I'm drunk and miss the down key...

But while drunk, it stil looks straight.

Plus, you have absolute control of your angles.

What to place 4 items to form a perfect square?

Sit in the chair.

Drop all 4 items (they're all now centered on your position inthe chair)

Move the first item forward 20.

Rotate the chair 90 degrees.

Stand/Sit

Move the second item forward 20.

Rotate the chair 90 degrees.

Stand/Sit

Move the third item forward 20.

Rotate the chair 90 degrees.

Stand/Sit

Move the fourth item forward 20.

Now you have 4 items each exactly 20 units from the center and on perfect 90 degree angles with no guesswork.

My method would be better in the case of dropping stuff, then deciding later to drop more stuff. Under my method, you'd already be aligned perfectly to move stuff in a straight line. The OP method would mean dropping a chair or rotating it so that you're facing the right way, then sitting, then standing, then moving.
