A guy sent me a tell yesterday wanting a solar harvester for 12K, could I make it now for him please? So I told him that no, I wouldn't make a solar for 12K, that was not nearly enough. "But 12K is the going rate" he assured me. I told him that a solar takes 4330 resources to make, not including any possible failures, and that I could sell the resources for more than 12K on the bazaar. So he offered me 15K. I told him no, I would not make him a solar for 15K. So he says, ok then, make an offer. When I didn't respond, he said, make an offer, how much will you make one for? I told him "I don't think we can do business. If 12K is the going rate, you certainly wouldn't want to pay me what I charge to make one. In fact, when you find some of these people who are setting the going rate at 12K, send me their names. I'd like to buy about 10 of them."

I haven't heard from him since.

Don't fall for the going-rate BS. Set your prices and stick to them.

I woulnd't even sell one for 12k currently. But I bet there are people that do, profit can be made at that level.

My prices are fixed, I dont haggle, "This is my price and it is less than the standard market value" If you find it for less than I sell for... you better buy it!
