Hey I don't know how many posts have been made about this since I don't read through all of them, but I am curious as to how some of you come up with your prices. I price my harvestors based on the current costs of resources which are usually 3-5 cpu for cheap material used to make walls, structure storage mods etc.I also price the materials to make the important items i.e. Ore mining units, turbo pumps etc. based on 8-10 cpu.

But when you add all this together a Heavy Harvestor can go to around 150-175k which of course people want to throw stones at you for asking that price. ( This is assuming a BER 13 Heavy )

I have read posts where some architects think that high of a price is ridiculous, but the only way I can see myself selling these thing cheaper is to mine the resources myself but then I am selling myself short since the whole of it will be going for below market value of resources.

I saw a guy selling factories for 25k how can they afford to do this LOL?

Just curious and not trying to get flamed.

Well, I'm just a novice Architect starting out and still don't have the ability to make Medium Harvesters (much less Heavy) but it seems like this is one of the major problems that Architects are facing. While most crafting professions are able to sell their crafted materials at 3+ cpu most Architects are forced to sell way below that level because people just aren't willing to pay the higher prices.

But, unlike other elite master professions our goods do not wear out! Master Weaponsmiths get repeat sales on weapons, etc. same for Master Armorsmiths. So we get a one time sale on an item. I belive we should be pricing them at 4 times the cost of the materials plus the cost of power for those materials and 5 to 10k more for your skill - 5k for Install line 10k for Master.

Might be a little pricier than what they are now BUT if all architects could agree on an approach then we should be able to fairly set our prices. Example:

Medium Mineral Harvester

200 Steel x 4 = 800
400 Metal x 4 = 1600
150 Orex 4 = 600
200 Chem x 4= 800
1 Gen Turbine - 1450 x 4 = 6800
1 Sm Struc Stg= 130 x 4 = 520
1 Lt Ore unit = 327 x 4 =1308

Materials = 12428

This is if the materials are at 4:1 - As some you may pay even more for these to get BER 10's, it now becomes 14215 at 5:1.
Add 10k for Master - 24215.

If you did a factory run you now have the power and maint cost of a factory. So, sure seems to me that a minimum of 30k is very resonable for a Medium mineral harverster with BER 10. That still does not take into account the time or resources used to get to Master, nor the time/effort to get everything together and build it, nor the fact that we do not truly get repeat sales due to items wearing out.

What do you others think about this?

If all Architects would agree ona standardselling price you could indeed set a price giving a decent profit.

But as it's never going to happen you have to go with what you feel OK with.

The choice is yours :

1/.Offer items for sale on your vendor at whatever price and be satisfied with whatever sales you get.

(you can try for a high profile spot in abusyMall, you can varyyour prices in the hope of increasing sales or profit and you can do some marketing both in-game and on the boards)

2/. Supply other Architects at a lesser price and let them run a vendor.

3/. Auction the resources on the trade forum.

You can alwaysdo some of all three

Don't forget it's a game and if you're not enjoying a part of it then do something else, no point in paying to be miserable.

Good luck with whatever you go for, I do 2 and 3 as I hate running a vendor.
