i'm trying to construct my own structural crafting station, and despite the fact that i got it's rating to 20.88 i still cannot experiment enought to get personal harvesters up to a base extraction rate of three. this crafting station i bought that is rated at 14.5 has no problems getting the base rate up to 3. what exactly determines the experimental qualities of stations? i have experimented on all components and gotten all of them up to at least 65%. i can't figure out where i'm going wrong. - Friedneckbones

i've tried multiple time with the same result. i only get to use 4 experimentation pts for the efficiency and 4 for the storage.

does the quality on materials affect the number of times an item can be experimented on?

Quality of materials makes all the difference in experimentation. When you are in the load materials window, take a look at the far right hand side and scroll down as far as you can to the bottom right. Here are you experimentation values. I can't remember the exact values for Arch productions, but the higher the number for each of the stats needed, the better base and the higher experimentation you will get (up to a a certain point of course....which is 100%).

So, try to find materials that have 900 or above in those three things...what is it HR, SR, and UT I think. Then you'll get what you need.

Um, yeah - the quality matters. The higher the stats are for the attribute that you care about (e.g., extraction), the higher the *potential* is. So if you dump some stuff into the hopper with HR, SR, UT in the 500's (for example), then it may be that extraction will only *ever* get to 45%, resulting in a BER of 2 on personals.

To get great results, you have to *start* with the highest possible attributes you can get ahold of, and *then* have a series of successful experiments.

Check out www.swgcraft.com - they have a number of guides around about crafting - sounds like you need to brush up on the basics.

So, you take the *exact same materials* for a personal harvester, using the *exact same* structure crafting tool, and get worse results standing by a 20.xx structure crafting station than by a 14.xx structure crafting station? And you did this enough times that you are sure it isn't just a random occurance?

if they are indeed empty they may just be bugged.. Try using the /move forward 10 or whatever to get them completely away from any walls or other objects and try to /pickup

then replace them and see if they work again. This has happened to me before as well and what I suggested worked for me.

Have you checked the input hopper? Stand close to it, then bring up the radial menu of a matching crafting tool, hold the mouse over "start crafting" (but don't click it) and after a second "open input hopper" should show up. Click this, and you'll get a window of the contents of the station's hopper. Make sure that's empty before trying to pick up the station.

You could also just start a crafting session, when you get to the resource selection screen, turn off the "filter items" checkbox, and pull things out that way.
