Hi, my Dancer friend wants to know where one is allowed to place a Theater. Must one be in a city or can one place a Theater anywhere a house would be allowed? I thank you in advance for your help.

It can only be placed in a player city, the mayor of said city has to have level III Civic Policy

A Theatre can only be placed inside a Player City of Rank IV or Rank V (ie: City or Metropolis). If the city drop below that level or is destroyed the Theatre will remain.

The Mayor of the city does not need to have any particular skills, as it is a player owner structure, not a civic structure. The Player placing it must be a Master Dancer or Musician though.

on the intrepid server somewhere, i think it was naboo, there is/was a cantina sitting in the middle of nowhere. apparently the city that was there died, and that person continued to maintain it as their residence.. i saw it myself, though that was quite a while ago, so don't know if this was 'fixed'.

There's no need to "fix" this. The devs have stated that this is intended behaviour. Cantinas, Theaters and Medical Centres are placed by private citizens in a city of the appropriate rank, but will remain if the city drops below that rank or is destroyed.
