Thread: Resources completely gone!

Well, I sort of understand that but I think it kind of sucks. If you're in a profession that needs a lot of resources, like architect, you are screwed. You have to rebuild the harvesters, which are expensive and sometimes dangerous to maintain, and try to accumulate enough bulk of goods to build things before they move resources again.

Since you are only allowed 10 structures, why can't they put a cap on perhaps the number that can harvest a particular type of resource? Also doesn't explain why some types of metal completely disappear. You can easily end up then with residual you can't use and just have to hang on to.

It's a good idea. This keeps the economy in flow. I don't have a problem moving my harvesters around, and if I ever do get tired of moving them I'll just my materials.

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Sir, it's quite possible that this game is not entirely stable.

"Not entirely stable." Well, I'm glad you're here to tell us these things. Chewie! Take the professor in the back and plug him into the patch server!

actually i think it WAS a bug,,,

my understanding in Beta was that the resources had a certain amount in that "pool", so say people put 100 harvetsors on XYZ steel patch, that resource would vanish more quickly..but more steel would appear somewhere else...but it was supposed to last longer than a week

it looks to me what happened was that they had to reset the server which in turn reset the resources...so maybe they are taunting that as a feature instead of another bug

personally i dont want to have to resurvey a planet every few days. I had just put down some new harvestors the night before on an 86% patch...when i went to check it it of course was at 0..

Also, HOW AM I TO KNOW THAT THEY HAVE BEEN RESET...it seems like that is information we would need to know...if i hadnt read the forums i would have let those harvestors run another few days before going out to check

If they are going to rest that ofetn i am definatly never paying upkeep on harvestors...it cost 2500-3000 to redeed the large ones.

Some people also like to build there factories and homes near their resources supply. I dont think the want to turn into nomads.

Reources need to last longer than a week (but i think they will change everytime they do a patch)

This is really lame. Sometime during last night a bunch of resources "disappeared" from the universe.

On Gorath, Copa, Eloo (aluminum), Ciwa& perhaps other types are gone, and new resource types have appeared. I'm serious. You can't survey for Copa anymore and the extractors I had that were mining it (on a nice 70% vein which was hard as hell to find) stopped(presumably because Copa ceased to exist). I switched my extractors over to Lile but the concentration is pretty low (40%).

This seemed to happen even without a server reboot. What gives?

about once a week they change and move resources around on every planet . that way new ppl can place harvesters and not have the same bunch corning the market

I need the rescources to move around alot.

My character is a rescource supplier. I do the surveying / tracking / harvesting and sell goods to the crafters.

If the rescources rarely moved...I'd be out of work.

In beta originally resources had a certain amount that could be used up. This was changed since some resources were vanishing in a day. It is now time based. Resources last about 1 to 2 weeks at a time before either vanishing ore moving around. Also, your harvester may not be useless after the resource moves, it might be able to harvest something else at that spot.

Instead of disappearing all of a sudden, perhaps they could make it so the resources had a certain pool. Each day depending on how many people were pulling those resources out, they pool would shrink. When it got to ZERO is when it woudl respawn. It would give the harvesting people enough notice (a day or 2 i would think at least) To be ready to move their harvesters, or switch resources.

Being gradual like this only makes sense if they want everyone to be able to place harvesters eventually. It shouldnt go from an 80+ vein to gone in a days time.

Perhaps they could also make the redeeding of harvesters a bit cheaper if they want people to move them all over the place. Either that, or create a better market for harvesters, by not allowing any re-deeding. At least then, the architects would always have something to make, when 2 years from now everyone has a house.

It's good to keep the game interesting, but I agree with Leishea. Between two of us, for the various things we are focusing on, we have 12 harvesters. It is hard to make enough to keep them going, but one of us is trying to work on factory construction, which takes a LOT, as you all know. Having no warning, and then a prospective customer say "hey, I think I want a house", and run to get the resources only to find that at some MAGICAL time the resources went kaplooey.... well, it sucks. How can you plan ahead? It makes this a rat race.

Also, there is no other profession in the game that has to spend a buttload of money paying upkeep, creating structures, only to have them rendered obsolete, but still have to pay maintenance to maintain. As far as using harvesters for another mineral, that is pointless. If you need low grade ore, you NEED low grade ore... nothing else will substitute.

I thought I was losing my mind. This morning I noticed the one radioactive that was on Naboo was just GONE. It no longer even shows up in my survey device. In fact all the minirals in my survey seem changed around overnight.

Yeah yeah I know, it's not a bug it's a feature.

I dont know what people want ...you make it easy they complain..you make it a challenge they complain..I played UO when getting skills was tough and even if you were hard core it took months to get some skills mastered..Enjoy the ride if they make it easy everyone does it and its not fun anymore.Trust me UO lost 4 accounts to me cause i got bored..

I sort of like the idea (even though it is a pain), but it is implemented poorly. Resources shouldn't just disappear like that overnight and without warning. And certainly 1-2 weeks is too quick of a time period.

Low quality ore is usually in the 55% range - so what they should do is start veins at 75% or so and have it reduce till about 35% and then poof. Meanwhile as it is going down, another vein shoudl be increasing in an inversely proportional manner. But that is just my opinion, and I am biased as my harvesters just spend half the night harvesting nothing.... No warning or anything. That is just not a good system....
