Thread: PA Hall as a private house?

I'm a relatively rich player in the game right now. Back when I played UO, my goal was always to own a castle or large tower or whatever, though I never got one.

But I have the chance here in SWG. I've got more than enough credits to buy myself a large house, but a couple days ago a friend of mine brought up a good question: Can a PA Hall be used as a private residence by simply not using the PA control terminal? And, if one did this, would they still be able to join another PA? Will it function like a normal home? Can I place it near to another PA hall? The PA I belong to is based on Corellia where we will place our city eventually, but I hate all the buildings you can place there EXCEPT the PA Hall; so if this could be done, it would be perfect for me.

As houses are really nothing more than status symbols right now, what better way to show your wealth than by having a massive PA hall all to yourself whilst in another PA? I'll likely get a few snide comments in this thread about my being greedy or something, but I've got the money to do this and I figured it'd be something fun to try.

Honestly, I already have one on order from an architect. I was told by one architect that these things should be possible, though he'd certainly never tried it. So I figured I'd check here with the experts to see if any of you know. Thanks in advance for any help that can be given.

I have a PA hall. It does have the option to Declare Residence.

Sure you can, but why would you want to.

This is, of course, a subjective matter. But I think if you ever get a change to go inside a PA Hall you will agree with me that it is has all the charm and appeal of a DMV office in a large city. Its huge, square, and rather boring.

Before you do this take the opportunity and do a walk-thru of a Naboo Large House. They look like a castle and have a much more elegant floor plan.

As always, just my opinion.

I believe you have to have 5 members in a PA, or the hall wont stick around.

Not true. As long as you pay the maintanence, the hall will stick around forever without ever setting up the PA.

It's an interesting option for those that don't live on Tatooine or Naboo (where the large houses are much better looking than a PA hall) .. provided you don't mind giving up 9 lots to do it.

Excellent, it sounds like it'll work quite nicely. Yes, the Naboo large houses are absolutely spectacular looking.. But like I said, my PA is based on Corellia and I'd really like to stay with them. This is really the best option in my opinion, seeing how horribly ugly the rest of the Corellian architecture is. And I rather like the PA hall for the large rooms it provides. They'll be excellent spots to display my full armor sets, weapons and expensive clothing.

Two quiestions to anyone who knows, though: What's the item limit for a PA hall? And secondly, can one PA hall be placed like right by another or is there some rule as to them having to be a certain distrance from one another, other than the normal "footprint" of a building? I could see that being the case for a few reasons.

Thanks for all the helpful replies.

I like this idea =)

Heres a thought, assuming you create yourself a PA, could you just change the name of it as you see fit to give yourself a personal title?
