OK, I give.

Not really so much fun anymore. I LOVE crafting, and I LOVE being an Architect, but I hate being a Miner. 50% of the class I have an absolute blast with, but there's just too much "maintenance" on a daily basis for me to truly enjoy myself. I shouldn't feel like I *have* to log on, but like I want to.

As a result, I'm going to drop my Arch skills and heed the call to war.

I know a lot of you don't really care for me, anda fewof you will be happy to give me a boot in the rear on the way out, but I hope that my comments, even the ones where we all got a little heated, have helped some people.

I've gotten to know quite a few of you pretty well, and I'll be referring my business to you in the future. I won't bother lurking in the board though, as I know my brand of business and 9,000 word posts don't appeal to everyone.

Good luck my friends, I look forward to seeing what else you can bring to the game in the future!

/hug

Sincerely,

So long, Kaori. I'll miss you, for one. And may be following you out the architectural door shortly. I enjoyed your posts and no-nonsense attitude, and sensible take on many things. Even when we didn't agree, I respected the way you phrased your opinions.

I had a long chat with a friend last night. A little over a month into the game, I've mastered Artisan, Architect, and filled all of merchant that I care to. And I find myself getting bored. Bored with the daily *requirement* to have to log in and spend one to two hours running from house to generators to widely spread harvester fields, paying maintenance, depositing power, emptying hoppers, all to go back and craft things. Particularly when the bugs in so many schematics exist, the crit rates on large combines have become obscene, and the existence of any decent density of low grade ore seems to have become a fable.

I took up novice marksman and pistol skills this week, bought some high end guns and a full suite of Ubese armor, and started playing around with the combat game a bit. I don't know if that will keep me here in the long run, but I have invested a lot of time and love into this game through beta and since day one of release. I just don't want to walk away yet. I can only hope that the non-PvP combat stuff provides some sense of purpose soon which seems to be missing from other aspects of the game.

I dont' plan, at this time, to give up my architect skillpoints, and still will do a bit of construction on the side. (I'd really like to see what, if anything, we get from the player city expansion.) But for the time being, I'm just getting bored with the game in general, and looking for ways to spice it up.

You know you don't have to be a miner to be an architect. I met a master arch last night who gave me this advice:

I hate mining, so I don't. If someone wants something built, I tell them to bring me the resources and some cash, and I build it.

He only had 200k to his name at the moment, but he had already built 2 PA halls and 3 large houses since hitting master. He spent some of the profit buying resources to build some large harvesters for his girlfriend I guess, so that's why he didn't have more.

So if your goal is to make money, then you have to be a miner too. I do my own harvesting, and I have 650k before hitting master. But this guy never has to worry about running to his harvesters to deal with them. He offered to pay me 3cr per resource for aluminum because I had a large amount left over. Even buying stuff at 4cr per resource, if you turn around and sell what you build at 5-6cr/unit, you can make some profit.

So, don't quite architect because you don't want to mine. Just don't count on getting rich.

"only" 200K? Dang.... I have 30k in my account now, and for me that's doing pretty well. I've never seen more than 60K at one time. I must be doing something wrong....

Or do you magically start seeing more business once you are able to make Large Houses? There's always hope....

I had over half a million before I built my first large house. It's just how aggressive you are in your sales, I think. (Of course, now I've blown more than half of that on a recent shopping spree, but hey... what good is money if you're not spending it?)
