Thread: Quick Question about harvesters
I know this has probably been asked 30930490385 times and sorry but could someone please explain power on a harvester?
If I deposit power into one and it says I have 1:8
what does that mean?
1 day and 8 hours?
Wasn't going to reply since I can't directly answer your question, but wanted to say that signature of yours is pretty interesting (and true, I gather).
Anyway, the one "useful" thing I can say is that given harvesters use 25/50/75 power per hour, or 600/1200/1800 power per day, I usually just do a little mental arithmetic and get a rough estimate as to how much time I have left. 5000 units of power in a heavy mineral harvester? Probably "around" 3 days or so.
Oh, and the other variable to toss in; from what I gather, the resource concentration has a bearing on this as well, so that putting a heavy harvester on a 70% concentration reduces your maintenance and power requirements by 30% over the "rated" requirements, so in the same situation, 5000 units of power in a heavy mineral harvester over a 70% concentration should last approximately 4 days.
Of course, I'm a remarkably sloppy "architect' (really a wannabe weaponsmith who needed to build the infrastructure to power level to master weaponsmith), so I'm probably wrong on all counts.
As was just stated. 1:8 means 68 hours. For some silly reason the power clock is a base 60 system. So the number preceeding the ":" is the number of 60 hour units. So 1:45 would be 145 hours (60+45). 3:00 would be 180 hours.
No idea why they did it this way unless they originaly intended it to be an hour:minute clock then changed it to straight hours for calculations without changing the format. Only reason I can think of for it to be the way it is.
hehe I accidently put to much power in one of my med ones because of that extra 0 that sometimes is in that box... I am sure you know what I mean.
I meant to deposit 2000 and deposited 20000 blurg ( i think that will last me about oh 20 years
