Thread: The Factory from HELL!!! Help!
*takes deep breath to remain calm*
Ok... Has anyone else had the problem of their factories not detecting items and repeatedly sending you e-mails that it is out of the item even though the item is in it's hopper. Here is what I'm running into.
I'm trying to make power cores inmy factory. I put in all the materials needed (steel, aluminum, ore, energy distributors, power conditioners, & generator turbines) It keeps stating that it needs generator turbines, but there are twice the amount in there than it actually needs. However it uses up all my steel, aluminum, and ore. So I have to keep resupplying it.
Please Architects, I need your help. Am I doing something wrong? I want to give the DEV's the benefit of the doubt, that's it not a bug,and first blame me for not doing something correctly.

heyhey
are those generator terbines in a factory crate...becasue if they are not...it will not work

Do the serial numbers on the generators match the serial number on the power core schematic? Btw I never heard of anything being required to be in a crate so I doubt that is true. There areonly threescenarios that I can think when the factory cannot find an item.
- Item is just plain missing from hopper
- Item in the hopper doesn't match the serial number of the item in the schematic
- Schematic doesn't specify a serial number (for example with similar items in schematic - not identical) and the item in the hopper is in a crate. Crates can only be used if the schematic has a serial number for that ingrediant. Otherwise factory cannot find the ingrediant crate.
I'll have to check the numbers to see if they match. Does that mean that I should have made all the generator turbines in a factory so that they all have the same number? The way I did it was that I created each generator turbine itself. So thus they all have different serial numbers. If this is the case, is this required for the energy distributors and power conditioners? As of yet I have not had a message that it cannot find the energy distributors and power conditioners. I built those all seperate as well.
Thanks for the help too all.

Yes, they must have the same serial number...
Whenever something says 'identical' they need to be created in a factory, but they can be taken out of the factory crate and put in the input hopper if you like.
XWing, when you make a schematic of any kind, if there's a sub-assembly in the soup (such as yours having a generator turbine sub assembly) it remembers and stores that serial number of it, and if you use the schematic - it expects that sub assembly with the serial number used in making the schematic.
So yes, if you ever make another schematic that required sub-parts, the sub-parts need to be from a crate, so they all have the same serial number.
Thank you all for the help. I will try it all this morning and see how it goes.

I want to thank you guys for the help. Yea it takes a little more work but the fact is, that it worked. I'm off to factory happiness. Ok I won't go that far, but I am glad that I know what to do now.
Thanks all
