Thread: A funny thing happened while building a crafting station...

I had a few spare parts left over from some experiments I ran the other day and I decided to make a couple crafting stations by hand with my leftovers. My ingredients were as follows:

89% MSS with 97% GP, 97% CU, 97% ED

97% CU

97% DSU

1000 CD copper

I decided that rather than use my nice copper for the whole thing, I'd use something else in the mineral slot. I had always used copper in both for some reason. Oh well, live and learn.

So I put the 400 copper in, and I had some gemstone just taking up space in my backpack so I used that.I had a great success on assembly which gave me a whopping 0%. I also was only able to use a single experimentation point (out of my 10 from master artisan) which got me to 1%. The final result was a 12.xx station. I made another one but this time used the copper in both slots. I got the expected 42.69 after experimenting to 99%.

Stations are based ONLY on conductivity. Gemstone doesn't have conductivity. It shouldn't have made a difference in my build. And even if the gemstone had horrible stats, it should have been offset by the amazing copper and the fact that there was 4x as much copper than gemstone. What the heck was this all about? Anybody else have problems using non-metal in the mineral slot on crafting stations?

I've had the same bug hit me - only about 3 times in 3 months though - once was on a crafting station, the other 3 times on heavy minerials. I shake it off, go for a walk, come back and try again, usually getting the expected 29% with the same materials I used when the 0% hit. Not at all sure what caused it, maybe a cliche in the matrix.

Its nota bug if something doesn't have UT automatically it is 0 and if u use it for something u gonna get bad results its not only UT other things too like SR, HR, and others.

That isn't the way it has worked. If the resource doesn't have the stat then it doesn't count in the equation. It acts as "null" or just as if it was filler material and the stats are not considered for that part.

Quite right. And even if it did count for 0, it wouldn't max my experimentation at 1%. With 400 units of 1000 CD copper and 50 units of 0 CD gemstone, the ratios would still work out to an 888 quality after weighting. So my max experimentation should have been 88%.
