Thread: BER-10 Mediums do you have to be Master?

I've made some BER-10 medium mineral harvestors as master architect. But now I want to free up some skill points to play around with the merchant tree. Does anyone know if you can still hit BER-10 if you're not a master given that you have the right resources? I'm thinking of being architect 4420 because then you still get all the assembly and experimentation bonuses (except for the master level ones) and the schematics for Medium harvesters but can free up some skill points. I have business 4 but am having trouble getting people to my shop and thought some additional merchant skills would help. Thanks for your help!

Hard for me to know for sure without dropping master and testing it which I'm not going to do but...

I think that you can make BER10 and BER13 without being master as long as you have Construction IV. I say this because master gives you 20 structure experimentation which equates to 2 points during experimentation and I think that that I've made BER10 or BER13 and had 2 points left over to spend in the storage hopper if I want. I'm not 100% sure though.

If I'm wrong then you could also collect +10 or +20 worth of structure experimentation skill tapes to make up the difference.

You can make them before Master. I did it myself while I was going up to master. Made some 10 mineral and chemical to use.

Really depends on your resources. With the best you can get, and no crit fails on the LOMU you should still bet to BER 4 with 8 exp points. I know you can reach BER 10 with only 8 points because I typiclly do and have 1-2 points left for the hopper.

Before you drop master, i'd say make a few schematics for LOMU and OMU's. Get them fully experimented to the max % you can. Then (critical here) set aside enough resources to make the full run of the # of schematics.

Once you do that, you should be able to crank out the sub's that matter and them make the harvesters with that setup.

I can...but then I have +20 Experimentation.

Seriously. You can make 10BER mediums with just9 experiment points. Prolly even 8. Just have to make very sure you are using good stuff for the LOMU, etc and the final. Would also help to be picky about the mining unit...put all points in one experiment, and keep making more til you get an amazing. Make a schem. Using that MU, do the same with the final (not suggested for wall-meds, only SM-meds)....if needed, if you get to 10BER without an amazing, make the schem. Then set everything up to run them off in your factory. This would take planning, but isn't that hard.

Provided that you keep construction IV i would expect you to be able to still make BER 10s but you may find that this will mean you need to use slightly better resources/components than you are used to. I find that I usually have 1 experimentation point left over, unless I skimp on the quality a bit. So losing 1 shouldn't hurt (although I will not guarantee it). Try making a BER10 now, if you have 1 experiment point left after reaching max then in theory at least you should be able to make it.
