Thread: decorating advice needed
Probably best chair for this would be the yellow high back chairs. I did see a post a while back with a pic of a new bar using one of the tables, but can't remember where. This was around the release of Player Cities.
Heres a link to the "bar"

It would help if I knew what room it was but I"m assuming one of the rooms in a large naboo or corellian that is off the main area. Personally I'd say use chests (either novice or small toolchest with the second type of chest sticking out as trim) for the bartop/counter and have a bookcase (novice if novice chests master/faction if toolchests)lining the back to hold up drinks (when the /up command comes in anyway) have a space in the middle that you use a chest or toolchest to take up on the bottom and have the twi'lek portrait or grunda painting for the top (again when /up comes). I feel that the cheap cafe chairs look the most realistic for a low end bar which the novice level chests help create or the scoop chairs for the higher class ones which the small toolchests create. Then just add a droid chasis or vendor for the bartender and get drunk.![]()
Oh and I feel that the streetlamp style 3 (red or white) works best here if you don't want the flames of a torch.
Ok then, you won't want it to stretch the whole length of the wall. Just have it go about 5 chests or so and stick out roughly 1.5/2. I know that you can't float things but /moveup is coming out next month so might as well prepare for it. I
'd suggest going for the "rich" look since the green and brown blend in nicely with the burgundy of the Noobian homes and using the 2 style chest for trim is a very nice touch to make it look that much nicer. The faction bookcase would fit better with those since white stand out and looks awkward but I don't know how much those cost offhand and if you aren't reb/imp it's pricey from a smuggler. Throw a few plants and couches in there, a twi'lek vendor that is scantily clad and you've got quite the den![]()
I've decorated every room in my house except one.
This room I want to turn into a "home bar" setup, and am looking advice on the best way to achieve this look.
Have any of you seen this done? If so, what was used to create the bar?
Is there any seat that even remotely resembles a bar stool?
Thanks all.
I just finished a bar for a client, but I'm not bright enough to figure out how to post screenshots
. I used the red chests (the shorter ones - they're about bar height) as PsychoticChipmunk suggested for the bar. I lined the bottom with Ottomans named Bar Kicker, and used the yellow "scoop" chairs for barstools.
That bugged faction armoire that we can make also makes a fine Liquor Cabinet behind the bar! My bartender is a BE veermok, but droids work too - I definitely recommend choosing something that adds a feeling of life. Vendors with a greeting such as "What'll ya have?" would also work, but I find the greetings annoying after the third, fourth, fifth time!
Blue Milk and a couple other chef drinks I can't recall off-hand have inherent anti-gravity generators, i.e., they levitate at about waist height. They couldbe placed on your bar, although they're just a little bit too low to be perfect. You could always stick a free-standing lamp in there and/or a data terminal (Cash Register, if you like), but without the /move up command or stairs, it's pretty limited in terms of putting items on the bar.
Incidentally, the bar I just finished was for a wealthy playboy of a Bounty Hunter. He's also got a booming sound system and a smoking area with a few shishkas (I don't ask questions).
Which chest is it, exactly? I mean, when I find an architect, which schematic do I tell him to use?
There won't be a bartender, as I'm going for more of a "home bar in the basement" kind of feel.
Thanks for all the great ideas!
I've got some nice screenies of the bar I recently created that show the Ottomans lining the bottom. Maybe I'll mess around with imagedump this evening and try to post them.
I also strongly recommend having some sort of bartender - it adds a feeling of life that is otherwise missing. Good luck with it!
They are small toolchests, I never thought of using the ottomans so tell me how that goes rather then the second type of chest as trim(PM me a link to a screenshot or something) And make sure that he names them bar counter, liquor cabinet, or whatever and not just toolchest, bookcase, yatta yatta.
I really have to strongly suggest you grab a droid chasis for the bartender though. It really just makes it all come together in a sense otherwise it's just an alcove with chairs lining it. Up to you of course though so feel free to ignore me.
