Hey everyone

I figured that this question has been asked somewhere on the Arch boards but i'm not going through a years worth of topics looking for it. My question is this....has there been any mention of actually making the factories make items any quicker than they currently do?? They've had that experimentation listed for that since the game came out but you can't actually do anything to the percentage and quite frankly, and i think i can easily speak for EVERY Arch in the game, since when does a factory make things slower than by hand?!?

Yes, a factory is slower than doing it by hand, but...

A factory works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Even though the server is down for that theorietical 1 hour a day, the factory still keeps on working during that time. So, while it it theoretically slower, are you sure you want to make those 1000 Structural Modules by hand? I certainly don't.

Being able to experiment on a factory and having it mean something (faster, bigger hopper, less maintenance costs, etc) would be really nice!

Enjoy

Plus the factory crates things, and makes identical things which you need.

I build ALL of my harvesters in the factory. I make almost all of my furniture in the factory. I run small houses in the factory.

I hand-build medium and large houses (I only sell 1-3 a week), and all city structures. I hand-build furniture with custom labels.

I build ALL architect and master artisan components in the factory.

It is a feature that the architects would like to see. I don't believe that the developers have ever even addressed it in any communication. I wouldn't look to see it implemented anytime soon.

The whole business of how slow factories are led me to think of how they could be improved. I cam up with the idea of a Manufacturing Plant, where there could be multiple ingredient hoppers, each used to make a different component, e.g. 1 for walls, 1 for storage modules, 1 for gen turbines etc. and a 'final combine' hopper. Each could then be loaded up with resources, switch it on and come back a day later to pick up your 20 finished harvesters or whatever.

The original idea is posted here

It would not need to be restricted to a full production line system, you could for example use 4 hoppers for structurals and the final for walls, speeding up simple wall production immeasurably.
