Ok, im about to grind my way to master architect to keep on my alt, since ive always wanted a bit ofa business. Ill be doing it with structure modules/wall units too so I can cut down on my waste. Im gathering resources now to use in making harvesters and I had a couple questions...

First off, imharvesting a duralloysteel to use with 1000 ut, about 390 mal and very high 900's in sr and hr, as well as some ore with ut, sr and hr over 950. Im guessing from what ive read that these are good to use, but id like to hear it from someone directly for some reassuring. Hehe.

Second, ive heard you can use lubricating oil as the chemical and it wont figure into the equations since it lacks the stats? Is this a good thing to do?

Third, whats a good goal to shoot for when making ore mining units, fluiding mining units and harvesting mechs? I havent seen the schems yet so I dont know quite what to look for on them.

Any answers or pointers you can give me will be appreciated. Much thanks!

Your stats don't really matter on walls and structure modules. Save the good stuff for your harvesting components and final builds.

Im harvesting some junk ore and metal for walls and such, I planned to use the resources I listed for my final combine and components. But the stuff I listed would be good?

All your info is correct.

when making structure mods, walls, generator turbines, power cores structure storage mods etc, use the crappiest stuff you have.

when making more mining units and light ore mining units etc use the good stuff. No need to use something with 1000 SR or whatever as you can get the job done with something hovering around 900 with the key stats. The steel you are describing is likely worth more on the open market simply as a resource to sell. but yes you are on track.

for the ore mining units you want 6 BER.

hope I helped

Two suggestions:

1. Read the FAQ stickied at the top of this forum - it contains a wealth of material that will help you.

2. Do a search for "BER13" in the title of a post here - there is an excellent thread that goes into the gritty details of making top-end harvesters.

That works either way, since I plan to end up with about a million units of it.

I was really concerned with using the lubricating oil, as ive already got a ton of it laying around and that would be one less thing to have to worry about quality with.

Thanks for the info!

Those stats are more than good enough.

In fact if you take that duralloy steel and use it to make your mining component then you could max it out with experimentation around 98-99% depending on your exact stats. That would allow you to use some low 900 stat UT,HR,SR materials in the final combine for the harvesters and still hit max BER.

Roughly speaking if the experimental result of the mining component and the final combine average out to about 90-91% then you can hit max BER.

Just so's ya know, Durralloy steel always has 4-5 stats over 900. HR SR and UT are 3 of those.
