... actually, my third, to date.

As a freelance architect, it's quite a rush of fun to get such a large order. It basically went like this... I receive a tell out of the blue, asking how I feel about a big money order. Naturally, I respond as any architect would... "Pretty darn good!"

So this person proceeds to order a city hall, cloning facility, hospital, garage, 25 houses, 2 gardens, some lamps, some statues.....

It's quite an order.

But when I look at the big scene here, I have to realize that I am essentially building a city from scratch, on my own. (with the help of a field of factories, of course)

Anyway, just thought I'd share. This is the 3rd city I've been asked to build, and I love it. It's things like this that remind me why I love being an architect. A freelance one, at that.

Wow. I'm surprrised you've gotten that many orders for cities. I don't get any enquires really except for a request for a single structure here or there.

That is definately prett cool.

I built a couple cities, but well not sure the order cam in as nice and clean as yours. Usually it would be like hey can you help my guild. and well it went from there with a series of orders. this all happened back when cities first came out. so well I got like 6 clover orders at once and then blocks of 10 houses and stuff.

looking back at it the city I live in and am the dirsctor of housing for(obvious choice ) it impresses me most.

The city only has 120 residents or so. It has has 90-100 since cities first came out. But see I make houses all the time for just my city. last week I made a run of 40 medium Naboo houses because My last factory run already have been used. I gotta make another 50 or so small square and well I have like 32 small round already in storage. Houses of people that quit the game rot away, and well more and more people join the guild. the city itself has over 200 houses in it and just shy of 400 structures. It is definately the coolest thing in the game. you know that you me, most everyone here can say that they built a city. and then live in it and shop in it and defend it and all that jazz. I like when I see that my city is so busy and large and popular that it has suburbs like theed. The burbs are filled with guild mates who didnt bother waiting to get zoning rights, people who we wouldnt let in the guild but love the city. merchants trying to play off our shuttlespopularity. enemy spy houses. Its just the coolest.

but then again I did build some 200 houses and 100 factories and 30 or so merchant tents and parks and lights and all that and did it all forfree. yes the curse of the architect

I got a pretty good customer base back when I first started as an Architect and there weren't so many others on the server. I think that helped quite a bit. Combined with being in the right places at the right time. I get a lot of repeat business, and referrals.

I think the other side of it is that the number of ACTIVE Architects seems to have dwindled a bit. I think a lot of cities have their own architect, and most architects belong to one city or another. I've never lived in a city, and never belonged to a PA. Just 100% freelance.

Sure, it's a lonely life. But who needs friends when you have money!? (haha)

I'm a freelance (no guild affiliation) too and I got my first city order (ever) about 3 weeks ago for a new city on Talus. Extremely nice person who I got to know as a regular customer. Got an order for City Hall, Cantina, Med Centre, Cloning, Guild Hall (and a few others I can't remember) plus 15 small houses.

What a thrill to go back and look around and say "wow, I built that!!". Heh, any time I have to go to Talus now (its my favourite planet for mining), I ALWAYS have to go by the city first just to see it hehehe

Well, I haven't gotten around to building any cities, but it's quite pleasing to log in and notice the sales emails from my furniture vendor say one person came in and bought 5 of this item and 5 of that item and 5 of that and...

"Ah", I think, "Some's wanting to furnish a new house."

Then later on in the email list there is the sale notice saying "CustomerX has bought a Medium Naboo House". Yep! They bought the furniture before they bought the house, but close enough!

I've never actually received an order for a city, but I keep my city structures vendor stocked, and people buy them from time to time. One person has returned each week as their city became eligable for new structures and bought those. It still always surprises me when the structures sell, especially new City Halls...I guess there are still cities being founded.

heck ya its cool

the day cities went live i made 8 city halls, 8 banks, and sold more houses that week then ever before,

I like to think that almost everycity on corillia was built by me,

I just wish houses would crate, run atleast 200 small and 100 meds every once a month and if i forget the smalls choke the factories.

and i love the fact that buisness is picking up i sold 25 med houses just last night.

I love a booming economy, i was so happy I thru in a bunch of crates of furniture.
