Of course a lot of these badges are due to holo-grinding so no telling how many practicing architects there are. But its still the highest mastered elite crafting profession outside of Doctor or CM.

Ok, so there are 1,490 other Master Architects on Bria that are potential competitors. Hmm wonder how I still manage to keep in business?
I think the reason that there are more Architects than any other crafting profession (except Doctor and CM, who I don't count anyway as IMOthey are quasi-combat professions) is simply because it is the quickest crafting profession to grind to master in. All those Holo-Grinders/badge collectors probably went that way first.
You know I never checked, but I assume that you keep the badge when you drop Master?

Yes, you keep the badge.
Personally, I figure so many people have mastered architect just because it's cool to make the things we make.
I mean, honestly, who wants to sit around an look at food or clothes all day.
Droids are nifty but there's only a small variety of chassis you can make that give you something to look at.
Weapons and armor are defined more by their stats than their appearance.
Architects, on the other hand, can make a wide variety of structures AND the stuff to fill them with.
That's why I did it, anyway.
I enjoyed crafting things and really wanted to get lots of cool furniture on demand without relying on anyone else. Unfortunately "I" was determined to be a Bounty Hunter and couldn't spare the points for crafting anymore. Fortunately, another $15 a month can fix that problem.
11 months later, the Bounty Hunter is in the twilight of his subscription and I am an "alt" no more!

Ya I'd assume that at 70-90% of the people who mastered Architect only did so for hologrinding and have since dropped it.
I'd be more interested in seeing current stats on what professions are mastered.
I bet that architect might still be fairly high compared to other elite crafting professions.
