As you all know, as a archutect we get laughed at when we quote our prices, and have trouble selling them even at rediculously low prices.

I just have 2 solutions that may or may not work, I'm posting to see what you guys think.

First:

When you go overt, all your structures (That are currently on your lots) go overt as well. Members from the opposite faction can then Destroy your house, harvester, factories, etc... The structures would have a life bar just like lairs, so it would be easy to implement. Maybe later on the Archutect could have a new set of items they could make like Defender turrets, Security system (Mails you when your structure is being attacked). Also, maybe Droid engineers could make 'Security Guards' for your structures (This would also help those crafters with no Fighting skills, the Droid would keep your structure clear of aggro creatures) (Would also help customers get to your shop without the problem of fighting aggros).

Second:

Take maitanence totally away from Houses, instead have the'Meat' (Needs a name, what I mean by meat is the item that holds the house together)degrade. What I mean is that instead of having topump money into a House to keep it up, you have to buy a new 'Meat' from a archutect when your old one is about to die. Say small houses last a Week, Medium 2 weeks, Large 3 weeks, PA Hall a Month (4 weeks). Each structure would need different ammounts of 'Meats', Small needs 1, Medium 2, etc... This would also help the Novices, the 'Meat' would be a Novice Schematic, so Players could go to them to by them if they wish. If you don't keep your house updated, it crumbles.

Third:

If your house crumbles, you lose the use of that lot for 1 month (Piled with debris). UNLESS you hire a Archutect to come and clear your lot for you. This would also apply if another character wants the property your rubble is on he/she can hire a archutect to clear it and get the property themselves.

Fourth:

Paint. Since when does every single house look the same? Archutects should have the ability to make several different types of signs. They should also be able to sell cans of Paint. Archutects could get a customization mod that increases the colours as they level. The paint would also degrade and the house would have to be re-painted often.

What do you guys think?..

Just thought of another... Maybe Archutects should get Reduced Harvester Maitanance skills?

I got an idea for fixing the Architect's Economy.

CHARGE MORE FOR YOUR ITEMS!

THe only people that can fix the economy to be better architect friendly IS THE ARCHITECTS!

Asking Devs to change this or fix that or make this give Architects the money to "Fix the economy" is going about it the wrong way. Charge more. Stick to your prices. Offer Sales and specials, Give deals for discounts. WE make the economy what it is... NOt the Devs.

I know of a few Master Architects that sell things like factories for 25k and lower. They do this ALL the time. They say that their guild supports them with nearly 40 harvesters. Sure, it probably costs them 1/4 of a credit per unit, but why sell for around 2 credits per unit? Why sell yourself short? Well, most of the people that sell themselves short are the types that have a BUNCH of support from other people, and probably get most of their money from other sources, like missions, and what not. Some of these people will NEVER sell higher, and it may be already to late for us architects unless the devs do something about it. I'm really digging these ideas lately. Maintenance SHOULD go to us, atleast a certain amount of it should. Keep the ideas coming guys...

1) while i'm not totally against it, it would have to be extremely hard to destroy one of these structures. people aren't going to pay 150k to replace something that a marksman can come along and take out in an hour or so. I also refer to a quote (as best i remember it) from another thread: "I envision teams of architects with rocket launchers running around taking out buildings in hopes of drumming up new business."

2) Maintenance is the biggest money sink in the game, any thoughts of removing, lowering or diverting maintenance fees to other areas will never get past the devs. they are looking for more ways to reduce the amount of money in the game, changing maintenance would do the opposite.

3) Space clearing due to house crumbles, harvester failures, or perhaps just being able to flatten land to some extent for building is not a bad idea. I like this one.

4) Again, i like the idea of customization and think this is the type of thing that would help us most, giving us options and if you implement colors at different levels with houses and furniture (like a tailor) you provide the best options for the future. Unfortunately, I think this would require a lot of work on the dev side to make happen and would probly take some time to implement. but overall, I'd say its a nice idea.

2 out of 4 solid things here.

I think it would be helpful if ever server had CLASS SPECIFIC GUILDS in addition to PAs. This would give specific classes the ability to maintain prices, etc. Make it necessary to be a member of such a guild to open a shop, etc. It would be more realistic, also. Everyone is trying to offer the best prices, but do you ever see anyone in the real world GIVE AWAY a house.?

If you are an architect, it is your responsibility to yourself and everyone who shares your profession to make as much money for your items as possible. Giving items away or selling them dirt cheap kills the market, hurts the economy, and renders the profession a waste of time (basically making it what it has become- a PA job.)

Another thing on the color for furniture...shouldnt different hides HAVE different colors?? I honestly think we should get a color picker and enable us to at least get a few options, like tailors, and increasing levels youg et more, but different hides should act differently and look differently, a spotted animal would have a spotted hide and you could have a spotted couch,,,hmmm, makes sense to me. Guess it will not get introduced.

Honestly I think the devs did a great job giving something that worked ok and this is add on and it will come eventually but it makes so much **edit** sense I wish it were getting done today.

I don't know how many folks are aware of this... but Merchant Class at higher levels gets reduced maintenence costs. Why would they do this for Architect when Merchant already has it? It gives the merchant the ability to pay their vendors less and pay less to upkeep their house/shop. But ONLY merchants get that (that I know of) at this time.

Interesting ideas...

I'm not sure if something like what your suggesting could be put in even in a medium time period. Destruction of buildings would probably mean that they have to be redesignated and would most likely cause thousands of other bugs. I've always felt that was a problem with architects. I don't think that a long range view of the profession was looked at - only a short term view.

I feel that it is important to state that if things stay the way they are, it won't be a long long time before Architects won't exist any more. The only way that houses, halls, harvesters etc. are destroyed is if someone forgets about them and doesn't pay the maintenance. Every server has a moderately large number of architects and a few masters, but what happens when everyone has a house that they like, or the number of harvesters. Sure, new people sign on and older people cancel, but the purchases we are seeing now reflect the time when everyone wants something.

I expect this to slow down shortly.

If we were weaponsmiths and other artisan based professions, our creations would have a wear factor. Architect creations last forever and I really feel that this needs to change.
