Thread: Actual Cost per respource
Ok,
Some guys on one of the Galaxy forums are doing calculations on the actual cost per resreouce ( no it isnt the Galaxy I play in ) If they are right then I am off by more than a factor of 3. They came up with 1.7 cr per resource ( I still sell for more than that ) But that is hard for me to believe, but I am not going to take my previous caluclations or thier figures as rote. I have mistakes before, ( back in 1977 when I got married the first time ) I could be mistaken again.
This weekend I am going to time my generators and harvestores ( again ) and make sure I have the actual cost of a resoruce for me. I am going to use one of my my Solar generators sitting on around 40% and my ore harvestores runninig at around 60%. That way I am not talking about a perfect world.
I will get back to you.
If you want to figure that out faster try this:

But that would be takeing others figures as correct ![]()
I wont trust that
ButI will look anyway.
I hardly ever re-deed that isnt an issue, and at the margins I sell at I makelots fo profit for that.
Your website says I am right and they are wong. and that my profit margins are like 400% when I sell for 2.5 cr per resource.
But I will still time it myself.
Wow, just looking at that makes me so glad I'm not a number cruncher when it comes to gaming. Good luck on your testing heh, makes me woozy just looking at a methodology my heads would probably explode if I had to parse actual data

Well, I haven't sat down at the calculator to try and figure out what the costs seem to be to the .5 crdit or anything, but what I do know is that since I started working on Arch about 3 weeks ago I have gone from about 10K in the bank to about 500K.
I started selling everything at about 2 - 2.5 credits per, but have since been able to confidently raise to closer to 4. I have a list of orders that includes about 10 large harvesters, 2 or 3 factories, and quite a bit of furniture....
Although I haven't taken the time to acurately calculate the cost of doing business on my server, I'me certainly making money as an Arch...

I know you want to do your own calculations, but I can say from personal experience that the numbers (maintenance, power, and extraction) given by the swgcrafters tool are dead on. They match my recorded numbers almost exactly.
I dont count re-deeding myself, I rarely do that ( although I just did yesterday ) I generally re-deed about once every 3 shifts and I sell a whole lot of houses in that time.
I am not saying you are wrong, I am saying that is the way I look at it.
Cost of a house = Actual cost of each resource X the ammount of each.
Plus
Overhead = My house, re-deeding, other expendetures suchtickets to other planets to sell them, Critical failuresetc.
You are not wrong in saying all that matters.... it certainly does, but I dont count that in the cost of a resource, I count that in overhead. And overhead does count in my final price for a product.
Oh and you may want to rethink that whole idea of overhead not being included in your costs heh. I can't imagine ol Sam saying something like that.
