Do you get more points in Practice mode vs. making the product, or is it preferred becasue it's faster?

Do you truly get more points for experimenting?

I experiment everyonce in a while, but mainly I craft while I'm out in the field surveying.

If experimenting gives a signifigant amount of extra xp to product, then I will make sure I do most crafting in city, but I do not want to stop field crafting if it is pointless.

you get more xp by practising. I think it is 5% or so.
