Thread: Extraction Rataes for harvesters?

Ok, first off, I'm not an architect and and pretty inexperience with harvests (haven't used em since about a month after release) so can someone please explain the extraction rate? What does the label KG/H mean? I would think its kilograms/hour, but obviously after monitoring my heavy harvesters for an hour thats not the case . So, basically can someone give me an equation to figure how much I'm really extracting per hour based on resource percentage IE: (BER)(x)(resource percentage) = total amount or something along those lines.


Or am I a complete fool and missing something here. This seems like it should be a lot simpler than I'm making it out to be.

Take that kg/h # and multiply it by 60 to get the units per hour.

I think he has it right. The KG/H seems to actually meanunits per minute. When you look at the operation screen, you'll see the actual rate, which is the BER x percentage concentration of the resource.


With heavies now at 13 and mediums now at 10, mediums are the best bang for your buck unless you absolutely need the maximum resources you can get.

This is confusing. Hope this helps.


The Base Extraction Rate (BER) is the highest possible number of units per minute that your harvester can pull. You multiply the percent concentration of the resource you are harvesting by the BER to get the actual rate.


For example: Let's say you find a 90% spot of Iron and you have a 13 BER harvester. You multiply .90 times 13 go get 11.70. That is the actual rate of extraction per minute. If you multiply 11.70 times 60 (number of minutes in an hour), you get 702 units per hour. THEN, if you multiply 702 time 24 (number of hours in a day), you get 16,848 total units per day.


So, lets compare a 13 BER with a 10 BER on the same 90% spot. A BER 10 on a 90% spot gives you an actual rate of 9 per minute. 9 times 60 equals 540 units per hour.540 times24 equals 12,960 per day.


Therefore, by using a BER 13 instead of a BER 10 on the same 90% spot, you end up with 3,888 more units per day per harvester.


Now, lets say you had a fleet of 10 Harvesters and you dropped them all on one spot. If all 10 harvesters were BER 13, you would get 168,480 units per day. A fleet of BER 10 would give you 129, 600 units per day. If you leave all 10 harvesters on this spot for a full 7 day week (about as long as the resources last before they dry up), you end up a grand total of 1,179, 360 units from the fleet of BER 13s, and 907, 200 from a fleet of BER 10s. Subtract these numbers and you get 272,160 units more per week using BER 13's than BER 10's on the same spot.


The bottom line here is how many resources do you need at any given time, how much money do you have to pay towards harvester maintenance, AND how often do you want to check your harvesters. Keep in mind that a medium BER 10 will fill up after about 50K resources. A BER 13 will last for 100K or more resources before it gets full. Depending on the concentration of the resource, you will have to check your medium every 3-4 days to keep it from filling up.
