Thread: Harvester power consumption
???
I put in 1000 units of wind energy...too much? The status screen showed: Power 1000 units (1:49)
Is that one hour and 49 minutes? Can't be cuz I went back 4 hours later and it was like 1:30
Just made a new harvester and put in 500 units of wind and it says :30....
Thanks
The energy reading works like this:
example 1:23
It's almost like a new time measurement, but using current time as a reference, each 1:00 is actually 0:60, just like minutes in an hour. So in the example, you have 60 + 23 = 83 hours. So that is almost 3 and a half days, or 3.4583 days to be more exact.
therefore, 2:00 would be 120 hours, or 5 days.
Anyways, thats the way i see it. I could be wrong but my experience supports this, others have posted about this topic as well and they have stated the same thing i have so this seems to be correct.
Thanks for the tip, but this is just plain stupid.
I already pay way too much for maintenance, have to keep the stupid thing at 100% (why on earth?) and suffer resource changes 2 minutes after plopping a harvester down.
Having to remember some archaic formula for reporting power consumption is just spolied icing on the rotten putrid cake.
Does anyone know the exact amount of power, or close to it, taken up by personal/medium/large extractors? I have four personals, and they seem to use about 500 powera day. Maybe a little more. Do medium/large take up considerably more? Will one solar generator in a 54% concentration be enough to run 4 personals and 2 medium harvesters? (As I'll have soon. Maybe consolidate those personals into mediums eventually..)
small/personal harvester shows (tested mineral, chem, gas, flora, water)
- 15 cr
- 25 power
medium harvester shows (only tested mineral)
- 30 cr
- 50 power
small/wind power
- 30 cr
medium/solar power
- 30 cr
power and MP consumption:
Personal harvester:
720 MP per day
600 power
Medium Harvester:
1440 MP per day
1200 power
Heavy Harvester:
2160 MP per day
1800 power
hope that helps.
I've put together a spreadsheet that helps with all of this. It does a lot more that just daily fees. You can get it from:

Not only do they have the BEST compilation of what resources are available where (all updated by ordinary players like you & I), but they ALSO have a wonderful set of tools. The one you'd want is the "Harvester Calculator" which will let you put in what sort of power production you have (Wind, Solar, Fusion, and concentration, or purchase price if you're getting it from the bazaar), what sort of harvesters you're using (Personal, Medium, or Heavies), the concentration THEY are on, and will tell you exactly what your Maintenance & Power requirements are per day, how many harvesters of that level you can support with the power you're getting, how many resources the harvester will actually collect per day, and what the total cost per unit (including cost of getting the energy) is.
Check it out!
OK, last time this happened I was not affected, but this time I am. I thought that my harvesters were using 2x the power they did before but I was not sure since I do not keep accurate records. (Recordkeeping is "work" and I don't do "work" in a game.)
So I got me mate, Norel, the Big Fat Pink Zabrak, to make me a new 9-rated gas machine and I put it down on Rori. I put in 6000 power which is 120 hours of power (50/hr) or 5 days even. I came back 1 hour later and the power was down to 5900 and the display said I had 4 days, 22 hours worth of power.
Also, I have had actually machinescontain NEGATIVE power, such that I had to put some in to get it up to zero. While negative maintenance (repairs) is understandable, negative power is meaningless.

Tested it myself, and it does work.
