Thread: Making BER 10 Mediums

Is it possible to craft a BER 10 medium without being a Master Architect?

I'm at Construction IV and Installations II - Ican routinely get BER 9s, but have not been able to achieve a BER 10.

I am using materials with very high stats (UT SR and HR all in high 900s).

Seeing that Master Architect provides an additional 20 experimentation points - I'm wondering if I have set my expectations too high trying to craft a BER 10 without beinga Master.

It takes me 9 experimentation points to hit 10's and 13's most of the time. Some times it only takes8 exp points so it depends on the components you use.

If your starting % is not 27% for effectiveness (Starting BER of 7) then you probably will not make it to a 10 without Amazing Success on EVERY Research try. Master has additional structural assembly and experimentation points to abtain the master products.

Besides, Top of the line harvesters should only be craftable by a Master.

Please understand - I am not advocating that a non-Master should be able to makea BER 10. Certain perks such as that most certainly should be within the realm of Masters only.

I am merely seeking the information so I know whether or not I'm wasting my time trying to get better than a 9 right now.

I can reasonably consistently achieve BER 10 Mediums now...

I start with a BER 4 Light Ore Mining Unit at 90%

The final combine usually starts at 27% and I then have 9 experimentation points. So long as there are no CFs, I usually hit BER 10 with good (890-930 UT, SR, HR) materials. I think the final unit has to be >85% to be a BER 10 medium.

These are Mineral Harvesters btw

Its doubtful, because not only do you not have the ability to experiment as high on the final, but also on the mining unit. All BER 4 mining units are not equal, the higher the experimented % on the mining unit, the better.

At a guess you'd probably be ok for medium minerals with good materials - Iusually make those with a point or two to spare. Where you might come unstuck is in making medium floras/chemicals which seem to take every point and a succession of "great success" experiments to get to a 10-rating (using the same materials).

Irarely fail making a 10 BER medium.

However I have very good steel, polymyer and carbonate ore.

When experiementing on the ore mining unit or the final assembly I only experiment 2 slots at a time. This may be pure superstition, but it works for me.

You do not need to be a master. I make BER 10 meds all the time, you do need to be at level iv for experimentation. I use 900's type ore and a steel that was on Shadowfire a while back with 1000 UT 960+ SR and 960+HR and still need 8 of my 9 experimentation points to get the 10.

But I dont mess around either, I turn the first one into a schematic and make the rest in my factory, it is not like it is a whole lot of resources.

Using good resources I can get it to where I have 2 points left for storage, though I never seem to get that much more on storage, maybe ~58000 at best after hitting BER10. So I wouldn't take a master.
