Can someone please tell me what survey tool I need to find Fusion Power. And then I need to know who/how to make them. Otherwise the generator I purchased is now useless.

Fusion generators harvest radioactives. You can find them with your mineral survey device.

I know, I know, it's stupid. Fusion generators would use hydrogen. Obviously the devs never went to high school.

-I'm not sure how the fusion generator works. Does it mine radioactive mineral then produce energy units?Does it mean i need to survey for the highest concentration of radioactive mineral before putting down my fusion generator?Thx in advance for your response.

Fusions harvest radioactive materials used as power/fuel, and also in some schematics for certain classes. To survey a site, use the mineral survey tool - avoid hand-sampling to test it if possible cos you'll get a nasty burn! Generally the higher the "class", the better the P/E ratio - or at least that's been my experience.

A P/E ratio of 500offers a return of 1-for-1 - ie 1000 units of 500-rated radiactive will show as 1000 units of power when you try to feed it into a harvester. 1000 unit of 999-rated radioactive will show as 1998 when you use it - scales up from 500 (1 to 1) to 1000 (2 to 1). Apologies if I'm stating the obvious here

Finally, you can mine the same radioactive sources with a mineral harvester but it's umpteen times more costly. Fusions only require cheap maintenace to run. Currently the best fusions seem to top out with a 14 rating. Prior to the patch the max was 16 (with a few freaky anomolies even higher).

Have fun!

What do you mean "cheap maintenance to run"? Do you have to put power into a fusion generator, or is it like a wind generator only requiring maintenance?

Thanks.

The *generators* (wind, solar, fusion) only require mantenance to run. He's just pointing out that you *could* use a mineral harvester to pull up radioactive and then use it as power just like it came from a fusion. It's just that the fusion generator has much lower operating costs. (It turns out that using a BER10 medium mineral as a "stepping stone" from BER9 wind to BER14 fusion is a viable option, under certain conditions.)

I was thinking about getting fusion i don't see how they are profitable. from what i see it takes what it extracts and multiplies it into energy based on the potential energy rating?

so you sould harvest 30 radioactive ore and get 60 radioactive energy based on PE

if this is the case i'd rather go base 10+ solar

Your math is wacky to say the least.

9BER wind on a 70% site will yield 9072 Units of wind power (PE <= 500).

14BER Fusion on the same concentration would yield 14112 units of Radioactives. Lets say the PE is 700.

You can power 7 medium or 5 heavy harvesters with one 9BER wind, you can power 11 Medium or 7 heavy harvesters with one Fusion at 500PE.

Both of these generators cost you 1440/ day to operate (60/hr).

Raw yield not counting the PE bonus is 5040 units of power more for the same 1440 credits.

With any power over 500 you get a percentage of more power. I'm not sure what the ratio is, but could do some testing to find it. Not important. What is important is that Fusion (radioactives) will always give more power out than resources in. Therfore that number of 5K more units just became something like 8-9K more energy a day. Check your interface and the amount of resurces you have. The available power will be more than the number of resources.

Fusions are well worth that extra 100-125K you pay for them. They will pay off in the long run.

As far as I am aware you can't get a solar above 8...

Thank you for the info

like i said i never owned one now i will defineately look for one.

if one will put out 9k in one day and they take only one lit i'll buy two power everything i'll ever own

thank you guys

just for verification they harvest radioactives so they need moved with the shifts more often

eating into maintenace for redeeding

(wind doesn't shift much to my knowledge; i've had two in the same place with 47% for the past three weeks, thre % ranged only 2% at any time)
