Thread: Which components increase BER of Fusions/Harvestors during the build process?

I'm confused, can't make a Fusion above BER8.

I believe it would be either the Ore Mining Unit or the Manufacturing mechanism. You cant alter the final assembly, so it is one of the sub-assembly units. I think the OMU is the only experimentable part.

You will never get above an 8 BER cause i hacked into your crafting station and replaced the micro processing units with old pinball machine flippers.

It is the Ore Mining Unit.

And even though we don't have the *opportunity* to experiment on the extraction rate during final assembly (like we can on heavy harvesters), it *may* be the case that the quality of the materials in the final assembly contributes to the final score.

I have a batch of 87% OMUs and good steel/ore that I use for final assembly. Mine come out at BER14. I had a hand-built 83% OMU and it only got me a BER13.

ArchAngel, any word from the Devs on if we will ever be able to experiment on Fusions again?

I've confirmed this myself. Not every BER6 OMU, TFDP, or HHM, is created equal. Couldn't get past BER12 with uber resources with my first "cheapest resource to get a BER6 subcomponent" schematic after three times. Tried a "uber" 93% subcomponent, and got BER13 with two experiment points left over.

I believe the BER for generators (wind, solar and fusion) are fixed. The ore mining unit is able to be experimented on as is the final combine on harvesters as of 12/10/03

Hi,

I doubt it that this intended. Wind goes up to BER 9, but Solars are stuck at 8-9?

No Chance, something is wrong here.

The Ore Mining Unit should be highly experimented. I used a 90+% BER6 that I had used for BER13 heavy minerals. Then at final assembly the quality of the materials DOES matter. If you use poor quality materials then you'll get a BER 13 at final combine, but if you use good materials then it will come out BER 14. I don't know HOW good the materials have to be, but they do count towards the BER even though there is no experimentation on extraction currently.

is there a list on the max BER anywhere?

create [email protected] put a crew on it, make them find the good ideas and make this game what it should have been from day one

Nope... I still haven't got the answer's to my last month's Top 5 yet, let alone getting any answers to post-patch problems.

I made 4 posts about it - still nothing. Not sure what's going on, but I do know the devs have been really busy lately.

I believe it is definately the case that the quality of the materials in the final build contributes to the final extraction rate.

Using 92% Ore Mining Units, and just "grinding" metal, ore and chemical, I get BER13. Using the same OMUs but with Emif, Irob and Lube Oil, I get BER14.

Is it really true that experimentation on the final build is fixed as of 10th Dec 2003? *goes into game to check*

I've tried solars - not fixed.
