Sometimes when I get critical failiure - material used is gone (wasted) and most often it is not - I just need to click assemble again... When does each happen - random?
Does HQ crafting tool, hq crafting station / droid help?

Some structures, let you keep the materials, others do not.

Makes sense. When a building falls, the stuff doesn't disappear.

I think that when I've had crit fails on furniture items that it failed for real and I didn't keep the materials.

Yes, I believe the ability to assemble after a crit does not apply to things classified as furniture, everything listed as an'installation' on the crafting tool seems to be 'recoverable'.

This was kind of an odd change in the game, I think last patch...
But it seems to include the following:
- All building stuff, including building sub-components (such as Structure storage modules, generator turbines, etc).
- All harvestors and factories (this INCLUDES harvestors from the Artisan tree)
- All city buildings
It does not include furniture or city furniture (like fountains or gungan statues).

It was something the architects asked for, as critical failures during assembly cost us a lot more in resources than any other crafting profession. We always had the abilitity to use the command line but couldn't use experimentation on harvesters that way. The change also carries down the artisan engineering line for the extractors.

Yah, I knew it was asked for... I didn't mean to suggest that I don't like the change. With the amount of reousrces that can potentially be lost on, say, a PA hall..... this is a very good thing.
