im planning on making a run of 50 fusions. which compnents need good resources and which needs crappy? i know walls, structural modules, structure storage modules, and generator turbines can have crappy stuff. i know the final combine and ore mining units need good stuff, but what about the manufacturing mechanism? im pretty sure i can use crap for this but i wanted to make sure.

You only need to worry about the ore mining unit and the final combine.

I think we can get away with little lower quality materials for final combine with the fusions cause you just need to get it to BER14, but I haven't tested that much.

yes you can use lower quality, but don't go too far down, I think you can get away with an average of around 800-850 on the resources, but I am not sure of the exact number.

If you split the metals 50/50 - 50% grind and 50% quality stuff, you'll get BER-14's without any worries. I did experiement with this and if you use grind for all of it - you won't get it.

As well, Fusion is the only harvesters I strongly recommend making by hand. You get BER-14 right at the combine and the experimentation is only for the size of the hopper. You'll save yourself some resources plus be able to use some one-off components every Architect has hanging around.

Sev, If you make fusions in factory runs youcan save on the resources for the OMUs, only needs 1 good quality OMU for making the schematic, the rest can be crappiest available. Until they fix it that is.

Holy crap you serious? Bah - didn't know that and I just finished making 50 of them. Sheesh.

Thanks for the heads up.

Sounds like an exploit, IMHO.

I've bug reported it, I also put in a ticket and just got a response something like 'We believe there is no problem, if thisis adversely affecting your game play please open a new ticket, we consider this case closed', so if it's an exploit, CSR do not seem bothered about it, so I should carry on using HQ OMUs? I did it once a month or so backbecause I did not believe it would be true, butit was, for all I know it may be fixed by now, but I may check next time I plan a batch of 50 Fusions, just to check, I will bug report it again if it is, and open a new ticket. But I will put the resulting fusions on my vendor for sale

Cheater!!

No seriously, it seems to me like thats a bug. But who knows. We can't get a straight answer from SOE on how these things should work. I don't trust CSRs to know what they are talking about. In fact I'm convinced CSRs don't actually exist, its all a myth like unicorns or something. My latest theory is that SOEs entiere customer support organization from Thunderheart on down are all automated bots spitting out canned answers based on complicated IF - THEN algorithms.

OUCH! True, but Ouch!

Well, I for one didn't know about the 'bug'. I thought that the OMUs had to all be the same serial number, seeing as they are a defined item. Walls are walls are walls, but subcomponents with stats are different. I'll play with that and see. I wonder what else can be substituted into a schematic?

CSR's are real. At least 2 of them (or could have been the same one ) I saw one with my own eyes early in the game when a friend got mind wiped by a critter on dantooine i think it was. We prayed to the gods and one appeared and walked amongst us. Healed our friend and all of us too. Then dissappeared. (OOC this is a true story btw). The other one was just a voice in the wilderness and only I heard him but the effect was real. I had -1 lots remaining so could only use 9 of my 10 lots. The voice did some magic and fixed the count and I could place 10 lots of things again. (OOC also a true story)

I have heard rumors that these so-called CSR's are actually members of a race that was enslaved by the Drall at one time. Because of the countless ages they spent in captivity, they have not had much contact with the outside world and therefore their methodology can sometimes seem quite obtuse.

Some sources even insist that they did not actually achieve their freedom but rather the Drall released them so that they could infiltrate our society and when they have gained our complete trust they will throw the gates wide open and we will be defenseless against a massive Drall onslaught.

It could happen.
