Thread: Need some advice from an architect
I need about 8k a day of ferrous metal and 5k a day of non-ferrous metal. I'm trying to only use 1 harv each for them(maybe two for ferrous) and another slot to mine the energy.
Whar BER would you go with ?
What energy does that use ?
How many energy extarctors would i need?
how much would it run me?
thanks
On kauri I havnt found a place selling any decent materials for 1cpu. I try to get around 500q but usually materials on my server are around with decent quality are 5-10 cpu.
Currently running 4 ber 4mineral extarctors - Averaging 10k
Using ber 9 wind extractors for energy. Forget what they pull up but I've been running my harves all for around a month with out supplying it so it was doing really good.
No problem with the wind , but i wasnt aware I could use wind with ber 10 or higher
Here's a tactic you could use:
Get 2 medium minerals with BER10 rating. With 2 mediums you can easily pull up 20k of minerals per day. Thats a lot more than your requirements. So what you can do is rotate between mining ferrous for a while, mining non-ferrous for a bit and then you can also mine radio energy for a while too. That way you'd have radio power to power your harvesters and more than enough materials from 2 lots and you only have to worry about surveying for 1 thing at a time.
e.g. Find a good 70%+ vein and mine some radio energy for 2 days so you've got about 40k worth which will power your 2 mediums for about 3 weeks. Then you can alternate back and forth between mining ferrous for a few days and mining non-ferrous for a few days.
This requires you to do dynamic mining and hunt for decent veins.
You could also just do static mining and settle for whatever the best % is that shows up under you but of course you'd get less output.

About the question about energy: You can use wind, solar or radioactive energy in any harvester. The size of the harvester doesn't matter, they can all be powered with any of the 3 kinds of energy.
However, the PE stat on the energy determines how much power you get per unit. If PE is > 500 then the energy is PE / 500. e.g. if PE is 750 then you get 750 / 500 or 1.5 power per unit. So its like getting 150% the output for 1 unit.
SOlar and wind max out at 500 so on average fusion energy is 150% productive as compared to wind and solar. Futhermore solar and wind are usually found in densities around 40% but you can find fusion densities in the 60-80% pretty easily.
Wind is good to start with because the harvesters are cheap. I'd never recommend solar because the harvesters are more expensive and less efficient than windmills. Fusion is the most efficient due to output and PE ratings but the harvesters cost more. All 3 styles of harvesters cost the same to run.
Not true. Although nothing appears in the crafting interface, it's been proven through player testing that the higher quality materials you use in a vehicle, the more durable it is and the less you will need to repair it. There was a thread a couple of months back that laid out the vehicle HAM you could expect based on material quality. If I can find it, I'll post a link to it. This bears out in my own experience as well. I have two swoops, one is about 80%, the other 94%, and the latter needs to be repaired much less frequently than the former.

As far as sales go though I make a great profit no matter what the quality.
Yes I prefer higher effective swooops. They sell faster and for more
Bur generally as long as I have a supply I'm fine with whatever quality. If its great than its an added bonus.
