Thread: Some ideas for the Urban Planner profession
Here are just some ideas I had and thought I would post here for you to read. Some of these I borrowed from the Star Wars Galaxies official site, and some you have probably already thought of. I am hoping that some of these could be integrated into the new Urban Planner elite elite profession. I don't know much about crafting furniture, but I think that there is room in this profession for even more furniture schematics, so post your suggestions.

My thoughts about your list :
I think you need to remove your large houses Style 2 for Tat, Cor, & Nab.
Talus and Rori can be forgotten...
There will be less schematics than the one you planned, so expect to be disappointed.
There will not be more harvesters.
City hall should be at a Novice level, because without a Hall, no player's cities...
Expect to seethe evolution in terms of sizes : Outpost, Small city, Large city, so you'll have the equipment related to that structure : Tavern, Cantina, Opera. Same with medical centers with different qualities...
I guess there will be more furniture related stuff than that : merchand tents... and maybe the ability to add some NPC, no ? Like trainers, or commoners, nobles...
I don't think you'll have more experimentation. As a Mon Cal, being Master architect = +100, so they will not add any related skill to boost it.
And maybe you forget to add those buildings useless, but giving a good size to the city (you can't use nor enter them, thought).
However, sounds great ![]()
Nod, I agree with Shaailazgorath
I hope Urban Planner doesnt get more houses or harvesters, it serves no purpose. Urban Planner means a profession to embellish the city, furnish it, etc. All the things they'll do will be directly related to that I'm sure.
So im pretty sure a lot of things like parks, fountains, street lights, etc. and of course the buildings like cantinas, theatres, hospitals, hotels?(but they serve no purpose really so...), etc.
I expect Urban Planner will NOT be a super Archetect.
No new player houses, no new extractors. It will be public buildings for cities, which players can own.
Dayln,
I think you are correct. The "players can own" part, I don't know. They would have to make the lots for each public building equal zero if they did that. At least I would think so.
I hope urban planner is smaller and not 4 skill trees wide. I am hoping that it won't take 63 skill points to master. From the post on cities the way I think it is something more like this
Tree 1 City structures
Village structures - Bank, Bazaar, generic mission terms
Town strucutures - Cantina, Hospital, artisan, explore mission terminals
City Structures - Shuttleport, Hotel, faction terminals
Metropolis Strucutres - Starport, Cloning Facility
Tree 2 City Improvements
Level 1- Wall, sidewalk
Level 2 - Park, fencing
Level 3 - fountain
Level 4 - Statues, Arches...
Of course there are tons of new structures garage, theatre.... Not sure exactly how they should fit in. I am hoping this is only a 2 branch wide tree and is only going to take 25-40 points to master.

They said somewhere that players can own cantina's and that urban planers can make them. ( shrug ) that is where I am concluding that.
And I expect they will take up several lots. It is not archetects that will own them, but marksman and creature handlers and such. We already have a business.
Room for Growth
The player city system will be introduced to live servers in progressive stages. The design has been planned to be modular so that the initial system can be rolled out to players as quickly as possible. The team has plans to develop and introduce additional city structures, services, and systems over the months following the introduction of player cities. Many of these additional features will be driven by YOUR feedback. Get out there and start meeting your in game neighbors...soon enough they might be trying to vote you out of office.
The way I see it, when urban planner comes out, we may only have the first boxes available, and have to wait for many additional patches to see everything.
The other thing I am not sure about is who can place the structures. I assume certain structures are for the mayor only, "They can place beautification structures like parks, set taxes, manage the treasury, appoint militiamen, or poll the citizenry on critical issues." Can anyone place a hospital, cantina, theatre? Is someone going to own the shuttleport and starport and make revenue off of it?
Er, urban planner should *NOT* fix architect, it should be a profession all it's own & add onto thearchitect experiance.
They need to fix our structure assembly & experimentationso they're both 100, and add more content to the profession. Not force an architect to become an urban planner if he wants to be an effective architect.
