Thread: What the heck is up with the experimentation?
2 days ago I was making 13 BER chems and minerals with mining units that had a base of 6. The same or better resources in the final build are now yielding me 12's.
The thing I am trying to figure out is how is it that I could make a BER 13 chem 2 days ago that had a experimental effectiveness of 88%, yet today using the same or better components and resources, I am getting 91-93% and ending with 12??
did they "adjust" the percentages in the last 2 days? 2 days ago I built 34 heavies with not one single bad experiment.. now I am lucky if one in 3 does not have a crit or poor success on final experimentation. The thing that gets me the worst here is I am tapping some of my better resources.. I have increased the overall HR UT SR numbers by 5-10% with my ore, metal, and chem, and my experiment percentages went up, but my extraction rate went down.. and I am still using the same mining units.. this makes NO sense!
anyone else seeing different results tonight over last night or the night before?
A few days ago I got to Master Architect. I was excited about experimenting on harvesters and crafting stations. So far, I've tried to build 6 crafting stations. Two critical failed duing assembly and three critical failed during experimentation. The sixth one was okay.
I was using conductivity 998 copper that sells for 30 c/unit. I threw away 67,000 credits worth of material to make one good crafting station. It's disheartening because I only had about 4k of the copper to begin with. Now, it's almost gone. The only reason I kept going was because I promised a friend that I'd make her a really good crafting station after I got to M.A.
I've built three heavy harvesters. Two critical failed during experimentation. I no longer accept orders for heavy harvesters because I can't reliably produce good ones.
I built a factory. I experimented on it even though experimentation on factories doesn't do anything yet. It critical failed.
I'm not building any more harvesters or crafting stations until I stock pile enough resources to make a hundred at a time in a factory.
um.. 30 c/pu on the 998 cond copper? heh.. I have like 200 k of it.. hehe.. i may have to sell some..
I learned a little after this post by the way.. a BER 6 turbo fluid pump is not BER6.. unless it is experimented to 86% or higher.. 85% shows BER 6, but can only make a 12 chem, regardless of the percentage.. I hit 94% with an 85% BER6 pump and got a 12.. I hit 90% with an 87% pump and got 13.. go figure.. Something has got to be done.. the math needs to be explained and the BER needs to be carried out to at least one tenth (ie 5.9 vs 6.1 instead of 6.0). I hate burning up thousands of high end resources and end up with a sub-standard unit because the rounding on the math was misleading..
